Holy crap, $1 billion for the Pels because they have Davis.

The last 5 minutes on Byron Scott and the Lakers is worth listening to too.

Can someone give us the bullet points?

Also, did they really value the Pels at 1B?

There really wasn't much, BS and Voulgaris said they didn't like Monty for the standard Monty hating reasons, Zach Lowe said he liked Monty because he draws up creative plays.

Zach also made it sound like this is a success or bust year for Monty and Dell although he didn't say playoffs or bust.

BS was throwing out numbers, so there was nothing scientific to the valuation other than "If Milwaukee just sold for $575 million and New Orleans controls Davis for the foreseeable future, the Pelicans should be worth $750 million, maybe even $1 Billion."

Yeah, but most posters here have a special interest in Byron Scott and the Lakers being objects of derision.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Bill Simmons does not really pay attention to the pelicans at all. Whenever i hear him all he talks about is 2 things: Davis and the Holiday trade. Thats it.

The Byron Scott = Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer reference cracked me up.

And if anyone is craving more Pelicans podcast stuff, Matt Moore (Hardwood Paroxysm) and Zach Harper did a SW division preview a few days ago.

IIRC the division preview starts around 24 minutes (the beginning is all Kobe). They said that they felt bad for the Pels having to play in the SW. They didn't think that Reke and Jrue would work well together (even though they were fantastic together last season, though it wasn't a big sample size). They seemed kind of high on Gordon (they talk about him as the segue between Kobe and the SW).

I don't see why they wouldn't.

yeah, they seem like complements to me. They can both run the pick and roll pretty well. Jrue can spot up when Reke is at the point. You can put Tyreke on the weaker offensive guard and have Jrue lock down the other teams best guard. Tyreke is good at disrupting passing lanes and Jrue makes all passes difficult so that should be a nightmare for PGs. If EG would go back to playing some/any defense, teams will hate playing us.

I listen to that podcast pretty regularly and like both guys but they are not particularly accurate on the Pels. Like you said for some reason they think that Jrue and Reke are a bad fit when the skill sets and numbers both say otherwise. They also seem to like Eric Gordon and think he has a much bigger role on this team than he actually does.

Simmons loves to talk about Ryan Anderson.

And no one national talks about anything other than Davis and the Holiday trade. Simmons watches a good bit of the Pels though, if for no other reason than to watch AD. He had them as a league pass must watch for a while last year.
