I'm currently in 1st place in my 12-team league and I think I'm good at RB but my WRs are inconsistent. I can start 2 RBs, 2 WRs and a RB/WR flex. Here's my RBs and WRs:
RBs: Matt Forte, DeMarco Murray, Andre Ellington, Jerick McKinnon, Joique Bell
WRs: Steve Smith, Michael Floyd, Keenan Allen, Cecil Shorts III, Doug Baldwin
So would you say it's a good idea to trade Ellington for Kelvin Benjamin and Josh Gordon?

Yes, you should...because you're in 1st place...how many teams make it to the playoffs?

I wouldn't do that. Your RB + flex is ridiculous with DeMarco, Forte, and Ellington. And your WR aren't bad at all. Especially since Floyd has Palmer back.

Also - Ellington has already had his bye week and neither Forte or Murray have. So you're gonna need him to fill in for those guys and I dont trust mckinnon or bell.

6 teams make the playoffs but the top 5 teams all have 5-2 records.

Yes. This can benefit you greatly come playoff time... more than it would having Ellington being that you're so deep at running back. The possible big boost at WR outweighs the small drop off in rb stats.

I'm kind of going back and forth on this one right now. The trade likely wouldn't help me this week being I'd lose my flex in Ellington, have to plug in McKinnon, and Benjamin would be facing Seattle this week. But it could pay off in the long term if Gordon returns to form when he comes back. I'm wondering if it's a unanimous belief that Gordon instantly becomes a WR1 upon his return. If so, I can benefit greatly from this trade.

You would get both for Ellington? Yes, by all means pull the trigger then buy the champagne early because you just won your league.

Yes.

Doesnt matter. He is high end no.2 and low end no.1 (in a ppr) based off of his targets and TD's.

Any thoughts on McKinnon? I know Minnesota is garbage for the most part but he seems to be the only legit playmaker on that team. Think he and Bell can combine for legitimate flex plays from here on out?

Without a doubt. McKinnon just ran for over 100 yards at buffalo. This week they'll both score a lot, they play two of the worst defenses in the league.

Good luck getting td's with McKinnon. The Vikings have zero or one td in five of seven games this season. The two good offensive games had either Peterson at RB or against the Falcons.

McKinnon should be a RB2 based on yardage. I think his ceiling is around 10 points standard, 15 points PPR most games, which is pretty good. Just accept you won't see the end zone often.

That's to be expected. I know that I should get plenty of touches and yardage with McKinnon but it can't really be too much of a downgrade TD-wise being Ellington only has 2 TDs this year and Taylor seems to be getting the goal line work now.

According to Ellington, he took himself out of the game to give Taylor some love.

Who knows how true it is, but it seems like Ellington could be the full time including goal line work if he wishes.

Though it would suck for fantasy owners, it does kinda make sense to maybe give Taylor goal line/short yardage work to keep some of the wear and tear off of Ellington. With his small frame, his foot injury and now the minor rib injury it could help to preserve him if the Cards make a playoff run.
