No Tim McCarver.

Seriously.

And Sandoval and Bumgarner kick arse in the post season.

Go Astros WS Champs 2016!

McCarver was a good baseball announcer.

What's your problem with Mac?

Tim McCarver is the best and most knowegable (sp)baseball analyst ever. i'm serious. I don't understand why you don't like him. the man knows the game and I enjoy listening to him because I learn a lot about baseball. and, he knows everybody in the sport.

He was annoying as hell.
He is the most egotistical announcer ever for MLB.
I would rather sit next to Lou Holtz while he was trying to eat a giant popcorn ball than I would sit through a TM telecast.

I disagree with you about McCarver, but, I admit that there are many who hated him as an announcer. I think you guys are all wrong about it. IMHO, people who know baseball and subtle nature of much of the game will say that McCarver was good.

With regard to Lou Holtz, I agree with you. I'm ready for him to retire.

Yet, I haven't disagreed with you on his knowledge. I just never liked his attitude.

He constantly tried to be the manager telling the audience "I would do this...." And if the actual manager did not do his prediction, he would then talk about said manager like he was mentally challenged.

Anyway, I really did not like his style and I don't miss him. Reynolds can be a bit too much but I think Joe buck is a good balance for him.

I personally don't recall that, but, if what you say here is accurate, then, I will totally agree that this would be annoying to the viewer.

McCarver was a young catcher in the 1964 World Series, so his baseball knowledge was most grounded in the years of his career.

I was recently re-watching Game 6 of the 1996 World Series, Braves at Yankees. At one point in the close game, the Yanks have a man on first with no outs and Tim comments, "The Yankees will probably bunt him over to second" with Bernie Williams at bat. Tim was dead wrong of course! Bernie Williams became one of the best hitters in the game. McCarver was wrong at times but I never noticed the annoying side of him.

McCarver sucked. I hated listening to his smug, "I am trying to be cute" comments. Here are some gems:

“That pitch wasn’t down and in, that pitch was down and up.”

"Something to keep in mind -- it's raining lightly. The infield could be very wet on ground balls."

"Roy Oswalt is a drop and drive pitcher. What is a drop and drive pitcher? He is a guy who drops and drives. Very simple."

"Watch Darren Daulton use his mitt like a glove."

"There is a world of difference between a count of one ball and two strikes is a lot different situation than hitting with two strikes and one ball."

"Giambi walks too much. He's always clogging up the bases with all that walking."

"The reason we call that pitch up and in is because the arms are attached to the shoulder."

"With Guererro, it's not as much a strike ZONE as it is a strike AREA."

"You see Colon talking into his glove because David Ortiz, from the Dominican Republic, can obviously read lips in Spanish."

"Beckett's retired 19 batters through Six and a third innings, he's having a phenomonal night..."

"One thing about ground balls. They don't go out of the ball park."

"Yankee pitchers have had great success this year against Cabrera when they get him out."

Assuming he was talking about Vlad that isn't really a bad comment.
