Early speculations: who do you want and who will?

Governor?
Vitter, Dardenne, Angelle, Edwards, Landrieu?

Lieutenant Governor?
Guillory, Holden, Nungesser, Edmonson, Young?

Attorney General?
Landry, Caldwell, Maley?

Others?

Let me know what races/potential candidates I'm leaving out, and I'll update OP...

Should be a hell of a fun gov race. Vitter might be a smug little prick, but he has a well established political base and will have a great campaign strategy/team.

Great name recognition, helluva base, and money galore... Angelle has integrity and principle on his side though.

It's an exciting two years in politics, this one and next!

And 2016 soon after that!

Gov: Vitter
Lt Gov: Fatas..err... Nungesser
AG: Caldwell

My thoughts:
--Remember, there's a lot of time to go so these predictions are more along the lines of "if the election were held today".

--GOV
Vitter has yet to not lead in any poll. Angelle would be good, Dardenne would be great, but they just don't have the name recognition Vitter does. Maybe if some camp brought up the diapers/prostitution thing and hammered it anonymously he might get dragged down.

--LTGOV
Nungesser is the only person in the race with statewide name recognition. I would be willing to bet that most that know the name don't know any more than that. Out of the listed candidates I think only Kip has the type of experience to walk into the job and get started on Day 1. The problem with Kip though is that while he has been great for getting Downtown Baton Rouge revitalized, he's been a pretty absent Parish President. This makes me wonder if he has a wide enough focus for the job.

--AG
AG is one of those positions where someone has to get shittons of bad press or just not campaign at all to lose. It's like running for local Tax Assessor. As long as you show, don't make major frick-ups, and make a passable attempt at campaigning for re-election, under normal circumstances someone should be able to keep that job forever.

--Senate
I liked Maness in the debate, he really impressed me but I don't think he has the numbers to do anything but force a run-off between Cassidy and Mary. Unless Mary is able to pull of another last-minute parade of buses through 9th Ward to literally round people up, take them to the polls, then take them back home I think it will come down to a runoff between Mary and Cassidy with Cassidy winning by a small margin (although I will admit there might be some personal bias there). It's all going to depend on how many conservatives actually turn out to vote.

You have to think beyond what a "good conservative" is for these races. Just about everyone is conservative. Find out which candidates you want to run the state or their prospective office in the best manner that benefits the state.

I'm tired of Jindal's partisan grandstanding, so among other reasons I don't want to see Vitter win.

Guillory is a great conservative candidate, but can he run tourism on a small budget and continue breaking record numbers through great advertising?

Landry is also the "good conservative" in the AG race, but with little law practice he has, can he be the state's top attorney?

Not saying they can't be good in office, but I know I want more than someone who is more conservative than that other guy they're running against.

Gov: anyone but Dardenne that guy was a rude prick when I asked him a pertinent question about education in a class last spring.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say anything like that about him. What was your question and what was his answer?

LOL

Don't know much about St. Martin politics or Angelle's past and present alliances, do you? He's a snake, just like former State Sen. and current ATC head Troy Hebert.

Want: Dardenne, I guess. Will: Vitter

Lt Governor. Who cares.

AG: Caldwell is a slow witted hack, but I don't know anything about the others.
