Do you think it's one of Edward Norton's best performances? Top 5? I'm so so on the movie overall but he kills his part.

American History X may be his number one for me though. Thoughts?

That was the first movie I ever saw him in and I thought to myself then that this was a really good actor.

Yep, but he pissed a lot of people off as I found out Sunday and thats why he hasn't been in much. By all accounts he migh be up for an oscar for supporting role in Birdman

I always think of a few movies when I think of Edward Norton:
AHX
Primal Fear
25th Hour
The Score
Fight Club
Rounders

I'd definitely put his performance in the top 2-3 of those films.

What's this about?

Fight Club star Edward Norton is furious contractual obligations have forced him to star in a re-make of The Italian Job - a project he reportedly wants nothing to do with. Norton has apparently been making it clear on the set of the update of the classic British sixties movie that he is only appearing in the movie because he would be taken to court by film studio Paramount if he refused to do the film. The star signed a three-movie deal with Paramount early in his career but has only made one film for them, 1996's Primal Fear - but has been forced to accept this project after rejecting all offers for several years. Norton even returned a gift car the studio sent him on the first day of shooting of the mad-cap crime caper. He sent back the brand new Mini Cooper to Paramount's co-president of production with a note attached saying, "Why don't you give this to someone you like - or someone who likes you?"

Yep. And he hit it out of the park. People noticed.

He did develop a reputation as sort of an a-hole to work with. Don't know if he's mellowed or not.

He's just difficult to work with. He gets into a lot of arguments of directors. He got obsessed with the editing process an started making all sorts of demands in the hulk. Just generally being a headache. I found this out when I saw reviews for birdman and they're like "the infamous actor Edward Norton is portraying aversion of himself in birdman."

The Score and Primal Fear are my two fave norton flicks. I think the score narrowly beats it because of who else was in it.

As annoying as he was, this is still my favorite Norton role.

Why are they remaking the Italian Job? Didn't they remake it about ten years ago? Good God, remakes of recent remakes. Hollywood is pitiful.

They aren't remaking it. That article was about the remake in which Norton starred. It's a really old article just talking about Norton having an attitude problem.
