So, like with any other problem rather than trying to point out that "other people do it to" as some form of justification; figure out a solution.

They are. Colleges and pro teams (across all sports) are trying to figure this out nation wide. They are hiring firms to help them improve the gameday experience. To offer what sitting at home can't.

But let's face it: across the entire globe, regardless of sport, if the game is a blowout, people will leave early.

You're right. Everyone else in the country sticks around the entire game in 30+ point blowouts. My apologies. Carry on

People leave early everywhere. To say otherwise is silly. Of course, I don't know of any scientific studies that compare LSU to other schools or pro teams, but I have no reason to believe that it's worse than other places when it appears the game is decided.

LSU fans are more inclined to leave than just about any other SEC fanbase

...And you are basing this on what?

You're missing the point. The point is not that LSU (and other schools and leagues) are not working on how to fix the problem they help create. The point is that, as similar with most other problems, justifying your own shortcomings because "other people do it too" is a waste of time.

It doesn't make the fat woman any skinnier to talk about her neighbor eating pizza.

I don't see it as much of a "shortcoming" if somebody wants to leave to get home early in a 30+ point blowout. It's a long day, it's their time. If they want to leave, they can leave. Who am I to tell them otherwise? So maybe that's where we disagree.

I don't see this as a new problem. Seems like there are a lot of "back in my day" posts when everything was better. I distinctly remember the student section emptying out of blowouts around halftime. I used to complain to my roommates about going to creampuff games because it was a lot of effort just to have everyone leave at half. It struck me as odd, but I got used to it. This was in the early 00s
