I have been invited to an event tomorrow night, hosted by this guys group. An acquaintance of mine will be the guest speaker, so he asked me to come and meet up. Graves says he is "pro-veterans" etc., but all I see if photo ops. I can't find a lot of relevant information concerning the guy, and I'm sure he is going to ask for my vote. I am just asking if anyone has the pros/cons for this guy

All I know is, he has the voice of a grizzled Army colonel and the face of a teen pop singer.

Likely but I'm not sure.

He's a good guy overall. I've posted many pros in the past. I learned last week the amount of contracts his father's engineering company got before and after his appointment to head of CPRA and I'm reconsidering.

I wouldn't. He's just Jindal's lap dog. There are better conservative candidates in the race like Rufus Craig or Dan Claitor. He's an empty suit with no college degree who has never held a non-appointed position in his life. He was nothing but a corrupt crony at the coastal gig for Jindal.

Why don't you go and ask him your questions.

Then report back here!

I don't really have any as of right now...Like I said, an old colleague will be the speaker, and I want to go for that...

I just don't want to be put on the spot and be as unprepared as I apparently am..

Yeah b/c his farher's company that has been providing engineering services for the government for over 50 years never had these contracts before he was appointed.

As CPRA Chairman he seemed to always fight the USACE publically with regards to Coastal Protection.

If the OP concerned about veteran concerns I know that he has the backing of a retired MG in the area.

Why do liberals constantly invoke homosexual terms as a way to insult political adversaries?

More this...I don't want to show up and be "another Veteran supporting him"...I would at least like to know more, and trust this board more than some random one sided blog

You can go as a civillian trying to learn more about the respective candidate to make an informed vote.

Or will you be introduced to the crowd or others in the capacity as a veteran supporting him? Will anyone at the event know that you are a veteran?

From my limited experience from attending a couple these events, they are more for the candidate to shake your hand, try to earn your vote, and hope you have passion to spread their message.

The MG that I previously referenced was an individual that was spreading his message at an informal USMA Alumni get together where Graves was not present.

I would assume that all of the candidates would be very close in their support for veterans.

Does that mean anyone that's worked with jindal is automatically one of his "butt" boys?

Are you talking about this?

LINK

Well, Graves doesn't have a voting record so you can't talk about that. Really, being pro-vet means you support more funding. You, as a Vet need to decide what issues are important to you related to congressional representation.

Will he try to be on the VA Committee? What to do with incompetent bureaucrats in the VA? How can he better improve the hospitals, health facilities, and cemeteries in the state?

Don't know much about the guy's politics...but I sat in on LDWF meeting where he made a presentation re the Coastal erosion scenario. Dude was impressive...very concise, eloquent and had obviously done his homework.

We need some smart people up there who will spell out their ideas and take responsibility in order to dig us out of this hole. I think it is expecting too much for individuals with special gifts and intellect to be snow white when it comes to networking with private industry and making bucks. If the man does his job and counters the hegemony of the Welfare State/Government Bureaucracy-as-employment ideology...then that is probably the best we can hope for. At least until we can perfect and implement the next wave of high-tech stuff that may change the whole societal/economic dynamic.

Just the CDR, and as of right now we are going to just meet in BR for coffee...

Thanks everyone for the responses..I wasn't looking for attack material, just something to have a little more insight into the guy in case I showed up at his event..

This event seems to be more about the brass than the actual Veterans
