This is the average ranking for the last 6 years of recruiting.

Alabama 3.3
LSU 5.8
Auburn 8.1
Ole Miss 16.3
Miss State 30.1

How do teams that averages 30.1 and 16.1 over the last 6 years get to be Number 1 and 2 in the polls?

Is it coaching? Is it player development? Or is it that they each have an outstanding quarterback? Combination of above?

Please discuss and tell me how this happens???

I'm not talking about compared just to LSU but compared to all 4 teams. I know we're young.

Losing all the players to the NFL is certainly a factor for us but what about Alabama? They lost a lot too.

Why do you assume ranking services are better at TI (talent identification) than elite sec coaches?

Then is it player development? They can take a 2 or 3 star player and make him better than a 5 star player???

I'm certainly no expert on TI or recruiting in general but do State and Ole Miss coaches know talent better than the other SEC coaches??? Is that how they do it???

How about we wait until the end of the season to see where they end up?

We have more than twice as many NFL defections as Alabama since 2010.

Obviously those two coaches do. Ole miss has had excellent classes under freeze and Mullen has built a program with players that fit his system perfectly.

Mullen was the driving force behind the UF run IMO. Freeze has come in and recruited nationally.

If it's mass early departures, try explaining that to Kentucky and more so T A&M.

Look, there's no doubt that the early departures have hurt LSU. I'm not talking just about compared to LSU. What about Alabama?

We had probably the best recruiting class (#2) in the history of LSU Football last year and we still didn't gain any ground on Alabama (#1).

It seems like you have an answer in your mind that you are waiting for someone else to say. Why don't you just tell us what YOU think and avoid the faux suspense?

Did you miss my post where we have more than twice as many defections as they do, 22 to 10, or does that just not fit into your agenda?

I have no idea how many they lost and even if that makes a difference because I think some of those that left LSU early were not drafted.

Big Ed, the ranking of Ole Miss for the last three years was 18, 10 and 18. So I'm not buying that Ole Miss had some very good recruiting classes recently under Freeze. Mullen was even worse with 18, 20 and 39.

And I have no agenda on this. I'm just wondering if there is an answer to why they have risen so fast.

Simple answer: QB play and attrition. LSU has lost a lot of underclassmen to the draft. This forces true freshmen and 1st year starters to adjust to speed of game on the field b/f they are ready. We are fortunate to be able to recruit as well as we do. It's a catch 22.

You have an agenda and I figured it our before this post where it is now clearly evident.

But anyway, Not only do we have waaaay more early exits than Bama over the past four years, we aren't getting 5 straight #1 recruiting classes. That's the reason why even though they are looking down this year, they haven't really looked just completely horrible in a game.

They have several 5 stars backing up 5 stars, and highly rated four star guys. Nobody compares to the talent they have, nobody, so stop with the BS. I posted on the SECrant in the offseason, because they have so much more talent than anybody else, because they have what people consider, the best HC in the business, how are they ever losing any games? Don't give me that "Bama didn't want to play in that bowl game" excuse. The fans for LSU would rip you to shreds if we said the same about our team.

You need to stay on tRant, the OT, or wherever you are at most of the time. I hate when the ignorance seeps over to this board.
