This.

There is tons more terrible shite out there than there used to be.

Mainstream radio is a joke. And while not everyone listens to the radio, it is telling in how bad it has gotten.

I wouldn't be so sure. We've had decades of people sifting through everything released back in the day for us to give us what we have now where we, for the most part, only hear "the good stuff" from then.

Well the most vapid and culture-less devoid of any talent music was like...I dunno, the Osmans or some shite in the 70's. Or disco.

Now it's lead singles from Miss Moeisha and the Big Booty Slutz like "frick me in my Dirty Pussy" ruling the charts

I dunno, I'm not sure the point where we just lost all shame or subtlety as a culture. But it makes me sad.

I get that.

I guess my point is, 20 years from now, who will be admired from this era?

The death of modern rock on the radio to me is telling that major labels abandoned the format and invested immensely, almost exclusively into the pop artists( Katy Perry, Pit Bull..etc.).

Because no one buys records anymore, Labels don't take risks like they used to, therefore making it harder for bands to break through, making modern rock terrible.

Good stuff is def out there, you just have to find it/dig for it.

My main point is how terrible mainstream music has gotten.

Led Zeppelin, Floyd were mainstream rocks acts back in the day. There is no mainstream rock now.

I think that is a bad thing.

How is disco culture-less? It spawned one of the most infamous cultures ever.
