Almost forgot, there was one thing I thought was a bit comical.

SPOILERS

I'm pretty sure that if someone threw two potato mashers into an enclosed tank and they landed three feet away from Brad Pitt, they would at least mess up Brad's hair when they went off. I'm equally sure that the other occupants of the tank would not have a full 20 seconds to escape.

Ha, yea. I thought the same thing.

Just got back and man that was a dark film. Really focused on the dark side of war. Absolutely gripping towards the end and yea, the tiger tank scene was outstanding.

Not even the best Vietnam movie, that would be Full Metal Jacket

The movie was good someone earlier complained of the earlier battle not being good that scene were the 4 Shermans moved abreast with the 30th Infantry against the German positions was absolutely fantastic.

The characters in this movie were a bit unlikable, and felt forced at times, but it worked anyway. Kind of a "cheap" feel for characters in a war movie.

But man, the battle scenes. The director must have watched Black Hawk Down 100 times. Incredible film, visually. Especially the Tiger scene. It really made you understand how hopeless Shermans felt in the few times they had to go head to head with a Tiger.

If I'm not mistaken, the Tiger used in this movie was actually the last existing operational Tiger tank in the world. There weren't a lot made to begin with, and most of those were either gang-banged by artillery and tank destroyers or left to rot after the war.

Just saw this movie and I was impressed.

The battle scenes were very well done. The sound mix was great and when shots whizzed by or the tank got hit it sounded like you were there.

If you want to see this movie I wouldn't miss it on the big screen.

It was a dark movie all around but seemed true to the subject matter.

Finally went and saw this with my son. Really enjoyed it.
Like others have said, the story is dark and the acting is just okay; but I'm fine with that.

The battle scenes were great, worth the price of admission and popcorn just for that. My son is a big WOT gamer, and he was about to jump out of his seat when the Tiger sequence unfolded. That Shermans vs Tiger bit really felt desperate and showed the mismatch between those two models- just dumb luck that the Tiger doesn't target your arse first as you charge out to meet it.

Movie is a great complement to Band of Brothers, to show just how effective those 'underpowered' Shermans are in street-fighting and vs regular infantry in the field.
