I hate cops but pit bulls justify this IMO. too dangerous for normal society. They had a fricking grandma and 2 kids trapped in a car. non-story
Dogs run around a car? frick it, just unload on them and blow their head off...

Only if it is a pit. Since every single one of them are evil

This thread cracks me up.
There was a thread a couple of days ago where a guy's dog got hit by a car. The guy was pissed because the driver didn't stop. The majority in that thread weren't giving the dog owner any sympathy and were actully giving him shite about it.
But a cop shoots a dog that is basically holding an elderly woman & an infant hostage in a car and everyone loses their minds.

I wasn't part of that thread, but for this part, is it known that there was a "hostage" situation, or just large dogs that were running around? If she is frightened because of size or perception of breed, it is rational to stay in the car, but I haven't seen where they were actually being threatening, just that they were present. That doesn't seem like just cause to shoot it. Just call animal control. As a dog owner, I understand that I need to have control of my dogs, but if they got loose, they are friendly, and want to play. I have trained them to be friendly and playful, I hope they wouldn't be shot for being big and outgoing, I would just hope they went to doggy jail and I got fined.

Hard to tell if a dog is friendly when they are circling your car. Your big dog being friendly could still knock poor old granny down while she is holding the baby as she's getting out of the car.
Not saying the shooting was justified but also not saying I blame the cop. Just a shitty situation that could have been avoided if the dog's owner would have had control of the dogs in question here.

It certainly is the owners responsibility, and whether they let them roam freely, or they somehow got out of a fenced in area, the owner has to bear the cost of them out. It's a situational consequence that led to what looks to me like in the spectrum of force needed, the cop went into the controversial zone.

So some dogs were playing Cujo?
where does it say that?
It said some old lady was scared to get out. It doesn't even say they were barking and aggressive. It talks about the dog putting it's paws on the cop, not attacking him.
Y'all really exaggerate.

Na, not evil. Just have viscous instincts. It's perfectly possibly to have a calm pit. But it still has instincts in there to eat babies and shite.

Sorry...when I imagine kids trapped in cars and dogs involved my mind automatically goes to that snarling, foaming beast.

That of course isn't the case.
And I'm not accusing you, but I loathe pit bull owners who act like pitbulls are no different than any other dog.
Yes, your pitbull might be a great dog, but they are naturally aggressive dogs. That is their breed. It isn't a generalization. Your ddog might be a great family dog, but it still has it in their breed traits to be extremely aggressive.

I have a German Shepard and a Husky. I guess they are going to live.

Are pitbulls good for anything beyond cop target practice?

I didn't watch the video but saw this story on the news. The owner had an old rotten fence, the type contractors put up when a new home is built but rot over time. If you have a dog, build a freaking fence. Much less four pit bulls.
