PPR format

Shorts is a nice option when he's actually healthy, especially with loads of garbage time on a bad team.

Holmes has posted 2 pretty damn good games, is he legit or just a matter of time until the Ds adjust to take him out of the game? I haven't seen the raiders play much so tough to comment there.

I think Holmes is the better receiver. I mentioned him once or twice last year after seeing him play and making the most impressive catch of the year.

As far as fantasy plays, who knows? Bortles has a very high completion percentage so far, so that bodes well for Shorts. Plus, anyone who gets 16 targets is a sick PPR play. I think I would go Shorts.

Personally, I think Shorts is the safer and maybe more consistent option. I see Holmes as a boom/bust guy week to week. Depends on what you are looking for. In one league I took Shorts when I had the choice between the two. I think Shorts is a solid double digit guy but low ceiling.

Saying a lot to say this:
For a consistent bye week replacement: Shorts
For a bench guy where you are just hoping for a blowup: Holmes

Shorts although injury and getting phased out or shut down later in the year are things to consider down the road.

1. Shorts can't stay healthy
2. It's only a matter of time before Jacksonville starts seeing what they have in ARob and Lee
3. Holmes has little competition. Jones is a possession WR who is past his prime. Streator is hurt and Moore can't catch

JS Big J

da frick is Cecil Shorts gonna do for me? Be a top 50 WR? Allen Robinson is seeing a ton of balls, Marqise Lee is getting healthy, Allen Hurns has been a deep threat, Clay Harbor is emerging.. they have a lot of mouths in JAC

It's Holmes and James Jones in OAK. Good thing is, Jones is still playing decent enough to take pressure off of Holmes. Holmes is a horse; big play type WR. He's at 18 ypc now and Carr has the arm to pepper him with targets downfield on the reg.

Look at the next two games- ARZ and CLE. ARZ is the worst at giving up points to fantasy WR and CLE is 19th. If it's me, I am adding Holmes NOW to see what he can do. These next two games may very well lay the foundation for the rest of his season; big time WR or two week wonder. I'd rather roll the dice on him then CS3

Shorts got i think 16 targets last week and when he's healthy averages 9 or 10? With Bortles looking pretty good and J Ville throwing a lot Cecil. Especially in PPR.

That sounds good in theory but Robinson has seen 10 targets in a game this year. So has Hurns. So has Lee. Harbor has seen 8 in a game. That's part of the problem i think, too many options. Robinson was looking like the guy for awhile there.

Shorts could emerge as the guy, but who knows

I think it boils down to who can throw a better deep ball. IMO, Carr does this better, therefore boosting Holmes' value. Bortles has had most of the season to build chemistry with Hurns and Robinson. I agree with the "to many mouths to feed." I am rolling holmes

Shorts is the guy in Jax when healthy. The problem is "when healthy"... If I knew both would play the rest of the season then i'd pick shorts in both formats. However, I would go with Holmes considering how risky Shorts health is.

Yea but even when healthy he's a Flex play at best unless you're desperate
