How come keyboards have the $ but not the 'cents'?

I think some people do it because typing on a device the numbers are often on the first keyboard screen and the $ sign on the second screen. Serious answer.

OT answer. They are fat, lazy, trashy fricks that don't care about the English language.

This is America, we use English units of measure and put the $ in front of our numbers. Go be euro trash if you can't handle it.

No...you don't say!?

Yeah...about that. Go to a lab and see if they are asking for 7&1/2 oz. of something.

I'm not trying to make you drive in Kph (although, objectively, the metric system is superior in every way and our system is obsolete.)

But have you ever thought of Why we do it?

Hell, we use obsolete things all the time because we are too stupidly stubborn to change.

QWERTY keyboard? Designed for use with typewriters. Obsolete.
Fax machines? Obsolete.
Newspapers? Only good for cheap wrapping paper, starting a fire, and crawfish boils.

When I read % used that way, I feel that the 80 belongs in the denominator.

Like a normalized percent so x/80 instead of 100.

Where it's supposed to be 80/100.

I work in a lab, I know about units. People still use fax machines. Qwerty keyboard is still the standard, I don't know what keyboard you use.
