What to do in los angeles for the day or weekend?

Dropping m'lady off at LAX tomorrow, so I figured I'd hang around town for a while, either for the day or til sunday when she returns. I've been to Venice beach (very cool) but looking to do something different. What's some cool things to do over there? Interested in food/drink, cool neighborhoods, open to tourist things
