Why did the state feel the need to repopulate the state with these things. What do the offer that would be beneficial to the Louisiana?

this is a good question.

Also fyi: the Louisiana Black Bear is extinct. These are bears relocated from Montana. What ever native black bears were left have been bread out, similar to the red wolf/coyote situation.

Need? I doubt it's about need. We have a responsibility to repair man made damage. It's man's fault the bears were gone. I honestly don't want them back, but understand why this needs to be done.

I'm not sure exactly what bears bring to the equation as far as the food chain and natural balance goes. With coyotes and hogs out of control all through the south, I could see the introduction of a predator like panther/mtn. lion as being somewhat beneficial IF we knew for sure that's what they would prey on and not deer/turkey.... which no one can guarantee. IMO they predators would probably go the deer or turkey route first since they would get less resistance than hogs/coyotes provide.....
so I guess what I'm saying is I have no idea what bears mean to the environment....

This is not entirely accurate. There were more La. Black Bears alive in La. than imports from Wisconsin when that was done. So, while we probably have a decent mixture, there's plenty blood around.

You don't want an honest answer, so I'll politely decline your request.

The people that don't have any bears on their place loves them. Wait till a 400 lbs bear walks about 10 feet from your stand and you'll understand why we don't want them. Or when they tear up your camp or equipment. They are a pain in the arse.

Man is doing just fine as the top predator in the food web; I don't think we need bears.

Bison and elk were here too, and you don't see anyone reintroducing them.

No one is debating that.

Not as recently as bears. You realize the bears were never fully gone, right?
