Here's the full quote:

"If there’s even one thing we can do, if there’s just one life we can save—we've got an obligation to try."

Does this apply to Ebola too?

I think you'll drive yourself absolutely nuts applying this quote to other things.

I think I get what you are saying, but to debate you, which I have an urge to do, I need you to fully explain your point here. TIA.

Or it was absolutely nuts to say it in the first place.

Well we know it doesn't apply to his views on abortion.

I know the original quote applied gun control. Obama wants gun control however it's a fact that gun control doesn't curb gun violence. (See the Caracas Venezuela the gun violence capital of the world with full gun control.)

Just pointing out that there is apparently a different standard of applying rules and supporting regulations depending on how people die.

I'm personally against doing anything to save just one life.

Absolutely - worst reason ever to do something if that is the only reason you got, and the action is not something that is worth doing on the face of it.

I'd throw a rope out to a drowning man to 'save just one life' but I wouldn;t hold the entire world in hostage for eternity to 'save just one life.'

Every so often a golfer gets struck by lightening and dies. We should ban golf. I know it sounds terrible. But if we could save just one life.
