It sales something about an ailment that nobody wants to be around.
Why are Lepers rounded up and put in camps?

In the Sanctuary of Outcasts is a great book. It's about the colony in Carville that was also home to a white collar federal prison. That's all I have to add.

Yeah. I knew it was out that way. Isn't that where they brought a bunch of the bodies from Katrina? ?

Most cases in this part of the world come from contact with armadillos. Do NOT scrape one of those things off you vehicle without protective gear.

The bodies were in a warehouse off HWY 30 on Bayou Paul Rd.

Carville is a national guard base now. I heard a rumor that there were still one or two lepers floating around there. Not sure if true. I think they all just died off.

Have heard the same. About 8 years ago I lived next to a couple that worked at the base and they said there were a few stragglers. I guess they might still be hanging on.

They had their own golf course there. I played it several times years ago after the place was basically closed as a leprosy home.

Cousin is in the guard and has said this is not true. He's been out there several times.

I worked there for about a year in 02-03. At the time there were 3 or 4 left. They were fairly old back then so I doubt they are still around. They lived in a building behind the old hospital that was closed at the time but was being renovated when I left.

Maybe my cousin is wrong but he said he never seen any so maybe they are there and he doesn't know or they died.

I read about that place several months back. It's interesting.

Yeah, I probably heard that rumor 6 or 7 years ago so I'm sure they're dead by now.
