Yes. I'm not the one complaining about how terrible and shitty the superbowl golden era of Saints football is. That would be you.

When did I call this era terrible or shitty?

These Gregg Williams threads get worse and worse. Payton will never hire him, Loomis will never hire him, Benson(Tom or Rita) will never hire him.

Additionally how myopic do you have to be where your entire focus on potential D-Coordinators is fricking Gregg Williams? He's a middle of the pack NFL coordinator at best these days. EXPAND YOUR DAMN HORIZONS BEYOND THIS frickO WHO'S NEVER COMING BACK.

I'm glad for what he did in 09', but that was a special year for the defense and couldn't be duplicated. The guy had a WWE approach to defense and it was figured out by the league. Stop the blitz and beat our not so great secondary.

I'll never forget that year, but it doesn't mean I have to want that clown back.

With Gregg Williams:
2009 :
13-3, First in NFC South, Superbowl Champions.

2010:
11-5 , 2nd in the NFC South, Lost Wild Card @ Seattle.

2011: 13-3, 1st in NFC South, won wild card, lost divisional @ 49ers.

Without Gregg Williams:
2006:
10-6, 1st in NFC South, lost NFC Champ @ Bears

2007:
7-9, 3rd in NFC South, no playoff berth

2008:
8-8, 4th in NFC South, no playoff berth

2009-2011 The Golden Gregg Years

2012:
7-9, 3rd in NFC South, no playoff berth

2013:
11-5, 2nd in NFC South, lost divisional @ Seattle

2014:
2-3, 2nd in NFC South, we'll see

So to recap:
3 seasons with Gregg Williams - 37-11, Superbowl, 3 playoff berths in a row, 2/3 times NFC South Champs

5 seasons without Gregg Williams - 43 - 37, 2 playoff berths 3 misses, no superbowls, 1/5 time NFC South Champs

I think you're forgetting that the "golden years" for GW were also the golden years for Drew and this offense. The defense was ranked 24th in 2011. Pretty much carried.

I'm not forgetting shite. Quit sucking this offensive dick and take a look at the team as a whole. 2009-2011 was the best and most complete team we've had on both sides of the ball.

2009 - he was the man. His style with Sharper was the perfect compliment to our offense

2010 was actually a better defense, but no turnovers. We had a lot of players out vs. Seattle due to having to play our starters vs. Tampa. Defense actually carried us in a lot of games that year.

2011 was inconsistent. No turnovers

Since the Super Bowl, I'd rank them

2009
2013 - Might be the best despite the lack of turnovers
2010
2011
This year
2012

not even fricking close. We were smoking teams and they threw a lot. The yardage was so misleading. Bottom line...league's best defensive passer rating. That defense was fricking legit all around. They weren't just turnovers.

Which would benefit the turnovers. The Saints offense and defense in 2009 def fed off each other

False, we finished 3rd according to ESPN. That goes back to the turnovers btw.

The Saints just completely shutdown passing attacks last year with teams averaging less than 200 a game against us.

I never said otherwise. I just don't think you realize how legit last year's defense was:

Pts/game - 19 (4th in NFL)
Yrds/game - 305.7 (4th in NFL)
Passing Yrds/Game 194.1 (2nd in the NFL)
Rushing 111.6 (19th)
Sacks - 49 (4th)

Both defenses were great.
