Can someone explain to me the genesis of all of the "Bar-b-que" Jokes ?

related to our assistant coaches?
It seems like with Coach stud and now Peveto people are always cracking bbq jokes. where does this come from?

They are implying that some of the assistants have no business being on our staff. Therefore, Les only keeps them around because they are BBQ buddies, and they must have good recipes to keep their jobs.

seems like it goes back to Tuberville's last staff at Auburn in 2008. Lot of the Aubs would talk about the BBQ buddies,etc.
Now, they could have gotten that elsewhere,but that's the first I heard of that reference.

ok, so it has no connection to stud or peveto actually being involved in the BBQ business or competing in real Cooking events? that is what I never understood.

I just always assumed the coaches did a BBQ get together for the players. But I don't know for sure.

I'm with I-59. Auburn fans weren't too keen on Tubberville's BBQ buddies.
FWIW, Steve Ensminger was one of those.

I have no knowledge of any actual backyard bbq's on the Plains, but I do know that Ensminger and about 3 other asst coaches spent many years on Tubbs staff, and the Auburn faithful gave them the nickname.

Actually they showed Coach Stud in the press box on TV. He was in under shirt because he had spilled bbq on the front of his coaches polo and I guess he didn't have a back up.
