Actually I'm on the last episode of season 3. Absolutely in love with it and have my wife hooked. 2 questions though:

1) Are you a fan of the "season" format? I know each episode is like a feature film in length, and maybe it's because I've been binge watching them, but I still end up feeling they are too short. I'm sure there's a reason for doing them like this. Just curious.

2) What are the long term plan for the series? I just read that it might be 2016 before we see season 4.

1. That is how they role in the UK. Most series only have a small number of episodes. Sometimes shot almost like 2 hour movies.

2. Also how they role in the UK. They sometimes go long periods between seasons. Heck, they do that for normal shows. With the leads in Sherlock being hot in Hollywood, we are lucky to even get another series.

That's interesting.

I absolutely love their take on Moriarty. Was blown away when I realized he was Cowboy from the Band of Brothers "Day of Days" episode.

The season format is a major reason why the quality is so incredibly high. That's the case for a lot of British shows. It's basically 3 great sherlock movies per season.

Sherlock is different because each episode is basically self-contained, but this is also generally true for serialized dramas. Think Luther, happy Valley. When there is less pressure on the writers to produce filler episodes I think that series improves. I think shortening the season really helped 24, fringe, and Lost.

The shorter season are also the reason Cumberbatch and Freeman will come back for more episodes.

I enjoy the hell out of the Brit shows for the short format.

Coupling is one of my favorite comedies of all time, and the fact that I only get 6-8 episodes a season doesn't bother me at all. The quality is outstanding.

Same for Luther, Skins, Sherlock, etc.

Moone Boy and The Wrong Mans are two of the funniest series I've ever seen and they have 6episodes max per series I think. The Wrong Mans is film quality like sherlock.

Agreed...

If you want to see true British humor, spend a few weeks in the Brit section of Hulu

TO THE OP: Watch an hour of CBS Sherlock, and compare that hour to the BBC one...

Any further suggestions? I love it crowd, moone boy, wrong man's, and older britcoms.

Oh and the elementary vs sherlock comparison is all that really needs to be said.

The writers were going to focus on Dr. Who and allow Freeman and Cumberbatch to focus on movie careers to allow them to all get back together for the next season.

yea, Moffat doing some Dr Who epi's is good news for DW fans.

Cumberbatch and Freeman have movies like The Hobbit series among others, to finish.

Suggestions? Enjoy the show and don't worry about it.

What a great piece of advice.

Except you're an idiot and I just like the show and I'm eager to see more. Worrying has nothing to do with it.
