Well, stuff like that does happen. I was friends with Josh Pastner when we were younger. When he was in like 9th grade, he would scout on his own and send reports to college coaches. They were impressed and wanted him to keep sending them info when he could.

And he was only a kid at the time.

Now, that's not the NBA, but if you are good and have the right connections, things are possible.
