Let's all admit we were wrong about the offense

As the season has progressed let's take a second to acknowledge the misleading narratives that have permeated this board since the Arkansas game last year.

1. #6Heismans is not in the cards.

2. BH should not have started the 1st game of the year. Too much to ask from a freshman. Jennings struggles but leads us to a win.

2. It is not Miles's stubbornness but AJ's arm that has limited the offense. He has a pretty deep ball, but his lack of arm-strength makes him take too much time winding up to deliver intermediate throws. My biggest complaint is that he knows he can take a sack and stay in the game rather than letting it fly and getting pulled.

3. They have been trolling us the whole time. See the NM St game: AJ plays so awful Miles is forced to bench him for the rest if the game, and BH shows out. Then BH wilts in Auburn as he shouldn't have even been put in that situation but was trolled by AJ into starting a sure loss.

4. The offensive line was overrated to start the year, was set-back by Grimes, and is now improving (maybe to become what we all hoped they would be?) 1st-off why were the expectations so high when we lost 2 starters from last year's team, one of which was our best run blocker? They started to look better against Auburn actually but the success on 1st down actually made us more predictable on 2nd. Grimes was actually compared to Tepper but is probably just what we needed for recruiting a position that is not historically deep in LA.

5. Les was right the whole time. We had to force the power run because it's gonna be another year before AJ/BH start making plays consistently in the passing game. Yes, this will make us look silly against teams with good front 7's like MSU (OM, Bama too?), but UF's front was lauded and we took it to them like we've been doing against most SEC teams since '09. We made them play our game and we won.

6. The nega-tigers are shocked, the sunshine pumpers are confused, and the rantards rule TD again as only the posters with the least honesty and shortest memory can even pretend they have any grip on the program. tDecline or not tDecline?

No, but we can admit that Fournette looked like the back we were hoping for last night. Played a great game.

Stopped reading here. You are exceptionally obtuse.

a sensible post on the rant? no way

LM realizes both his QBs are awful as of this point...

I think a lot of people on this forum believe that BH (and to a MUCH less extent, AJ) is Tom Brady is disguise on the sideline and LM is just too stubborn and idiotic to play him, and keeps running in to the line like a dumb mule.

Could it possibly be that LM knows we have no other options at the moment than to just keep running? I'm sure LM and CC who have been around football for much longer than anyone on the Rant can pick up on this fact.

QBs aren't ready to start shredding defenses. Our line isn't as good as it was purported to be. However maintaining possession and keeping it on the ground is out best way to ensure victories in games where we at least have a fighting change... a la last night.

LM isn't blind, I know he can see that AJ's passes are worse than a HS quarterback's

BH is a much better passer and will develop in to who we want him to be, but that Auburn game was hard to stomach.

It's just a dilemma. It's like trying to win a boxing match with one hand tied behind your back.

I called this exact type of offensive performance for the 2014 season on 1/1/2014 at about 3:30 pm. What I saw in the bowl game told me exactly what I needed to know about 2014. I posted as much on this site in the next week.

Our offense is an embarrassment. Especially at a program like LSU. Absolutely embarrassing.

I don't think Harris should have had starts, I think he obviously is more talented and brings more to the table. Les just needs to get the guy experience. It probably could have been a different story if Les can get his QB into the flow of the game instead of putting him into shitty situations. You can't just look at the Auburn game and be like well. Lets stick with Jennings the rest the season, Harris isn't ready. If Les is smart he needs to give Harris some shots while we are at home the next few games. We have nothing to lose. Would be stupid not to at least give some of the younger guys experience. We are bound to lose 3-4 more games at least. We need to have the mentality, there's nothing to lose, so why not try something different.

If only Miles had a chance to search the country to find a quality high school qb to enter his program. If only Miles had an opportunity to develop an offensive plan that allows a qb to progress and gain confidence in the passing game.

If only....

Why did I continue? You mean Miles was right to run pitch power out of 22 personnel into 9 man fronts on 3rd and 8+ all those times? True imbecile. Power running game is fine but at least have some type of creativity other than something me and my fellow high school coaches can scheme against in a 30 minute film session.

I agree Harris played shitty against Auburn but that was his first road game, against a top 5 team, in one the most hostile environments in college football. The playcalling didn't do him any favors. The staff literally sent a message saying we don't have faith in our QB with the constant runs on 3rd downs and long. They didn't give him easy passes or try to get him into the flow of the game. No slants, no screens or anything. I can see why these quarterbacks struggle, their confidence is literally is taken away by the staff

The OP made some good points. LSU is trying to win games this season as they should, 2015 will take care of itself. I still wouldn't rule out Harris playing significant snaps going forward.

Harris will not get significant snaps at home in the next few games, Les thinks Jennings is better, obviously. Jennings is an absolute terrible passer and doesn't understand how to throw the ball away. Harris should be given more chances to start but he won't, and even if he does it will be to pitch or hand off to the RB up the middle and only get a chance to throw in obvious passing downs.

Exactly. Miles is holding back the offense and his development.
