re: Nakia Hogan says Reke the favorite to start at SF...

Reke did play awesome when he started, but he was playing as a guard then. I feel like I remember quite clearly that he was unproductive as a whole when they tried playing him at SF last year. Maybe I'm crazy. He obviously had problems with the size match ups on D, though Asik holding down the paint should definitely help there. But the guy has no shot. What good does a SF do that can't effectively provide spacing on offense? Asik has absolutely no range, so he's likely going to be in trouble if he tries to slash. Don't get me wrong, I love Reke. Great kid and well rounded skillset. He's just not a forward. He thrives as the primary ball handler. Shot chart provided.

He's been working on that a lot this offeseason.
He's been impressing coaches/teamates as well.
The Jrue/EG/Tyreke/Ryno/AD 5 man squad was ridiculously efficient on offense.
He also couldn't get into a grove due to monty+Ankle. His poor shooting outside in the first half is a result of those factors.
I think he'll be fine.

I disagree that he can't provide spacing. The last thing you want to do is give Tyreke room to run. They may not be up in his chest like they would for a top shooter, but he won't be ignored like Aminu, and if he is, swing the ball to him and let him attack. Tyreke lead the league in points off of drives (normalized to 48 minutes) LINK

I know you are trying to prove a point. But it's always strange when you guys post these splits. Cause when I start reading the other names surrounding these guys, I don't know if you realize how it dilutes your point. I mean sure it's great that Tony Parker apart of any list. But he is the only guy of any merit in the top 10 of the list you posted. Did you look at the list? Evans is tied for first with Tony Wroten. Marshon Brooks is tied for second and he just signed to play in China this season..

Those guys don't get near the minutes so they have a smaller sample size.

It's been beat to death, but positions are merely a title in the NBA now.
Defensively, Holiday, Davis, and Asik will afford us the luxury of having 3 above average defenders on the floor. They can all guard multiple positions and excel at help/rotating on defense. Even Evans can guard multiple positions and can somewhat hold his own on defense.
Offensively, Holiday, Gordon and Evans can handle the ball and get to the cup. Holiday and Gordon can shoot the 3 ball well enough, and Evans can hopefully improve there, too. We know what Davis can do. Asik can be active setting picks and getting some easy looks on the roll to the basket.
Our mismatches on both ends could prove to be more of an asset than a negative.

Anyone who's worth anything works on their weaknesses in the offseason. Unfortunately, often times they don't improve nearly as much as they'd like. Look at how hard Shaq worked on his freethrows throughout his career. AD is just a freak the way he keeps improving. I really haven't noticed any significant improvements in Reke's game since he entered the league, and I'm sure its not due to lack of effort previously.

Ryno is so amazing at stretching the floor, he filled that need where the SF normally would. Even when AD was put in at the 5, he rarely just camped the paint because of the strength issue. There was plenty of room to cut inside and lots of easy pass outs if it wasn't there. Replace one of the best stretch forwards in the game with a very offensively limited center. There's a huge difference.
