Jennings was much more highly rated than Dak coming out of high school. But, the talent level is world's apart. How do the recruiting services consistently screw up QB ratings - especially the ones who come to LSU. Driskell was another highly rated QB who is terrible.

Is QB just that hard to grade?

Recruiting rankings are dumb, and it continually amazes me how much stock people put into them. There are way too many variables and unknowns that go into how a recruit eventually pans out that grading them is an absolute crap shoot. The only thing the star system does is generate revenue for the websites that put them out.

Agreed. Miss. State is dominating college football with a bunch of 2 and 3 stars.

Dak was a nobody before this season

It takes time, experience and development to play the position

It's not about football anymore. It's about how you look in a tee shirt and shorts. We've seen it time and time again. Want an offer? Pay me. Don't want to pay for my camp? No offer, and I will say it's because you're scared to compete. Same thing with the recruiting sites. Skip their camps and they will under rank you if they rank you at all.

I think besides the physical attributes the position is more about leadership and intelligence.
ie. the Manning boys, Matty Mauk, Herb Vincent (oops! I ment Tyler, lol) and many others fit this mold.
I am hoping B Harris falls in here as well.

Recruiting rankings are dumb that's why Alabama has won 3 out of the last 4 and every team to win the NC has been a top 10 recruiting class. Looked at the teams recruiting 2 and 3 stars. They are at the bottom of the barrel. Miss st is having one good year. One

Four starters, Dak is in his fourth freaking year. For another thing, he didn't even play his first two years. For another thing, he is in a system that utilizes his skill. For another thing, Jennings was graded out high at Elite 11 camps for his passing and accuracy. For another thing, stop being so damn impatient. Y'all seriously won't let a guy grow at all.

I'm not saying he should start (Harris should IMO), but you got morons calling about not getting any more dual threats (you and others) when the only actual dual threats who threw any passes for us, were Perriloux and Harris. Everybody else was a pro style passer.

Miles turned both Jennings and Jefferson into zone read, option QBs. Hell, he even had Mett running some speed option. The one thing is that Jennings has a QB coach where Jefferson didn't. Jennings will improve his passing in time like Dak has. Dak didn't come out of high school throwing the ball well. He didn't even do it that well last year. You would have been complaining if he started for us last year regardless of if Mett were here or not.

ETA: oh I forgot garbage time and 3-4 plays here and there, really mattered. The dude was pretty much inserted in games to give a different look his second year.

Yeah, like 4 and 5 years in the system. Miss State is experience LOADED. These are the same dudes last year, who finished 7-6, most of the same dudes the year before, who started with 7 straight wins playing the easier opponents, before losing 5 of the last 6.

They don't have or need true freshman making big plays for them. Teams like LSU, Bama, who sends tons of guys to the draft, are suffering this year. Bama less because of 5 straight #1 classes on their team, and they send only 10 I think, early entrants instead of 18, like we did, over the past two years.

We will be way better next year, but the overreaction, sky is falling, highly impatient crowd of LSU fans, won't give it time. I'm telling you right now, the media, and the SEC coaches know how scary we will be in 2016.

We have yet to play our 5 star LB, we have yet to really utilize Ed Paris. We have yet to be able to play the #3 DT in the country. Trey L didn't even play yesterday. Not to forget guys like Chark (who is pretty much an even faster Dural), Battle (a heavy hitter who is really good in coverage), Teuhema (who's seen some garbage action, but is very fast), and Clark (same as Teuhema).

We aren't even scratching the surface of the potential of this 2014 class. When asked earlier this year, I said this class would exceed the offense of the 2011 class, and at least match the defense of the 2009 class. I still stand by that.

Dak wasn't rated high in high school because he wasn't any good in high school. Can't really fault the ranking in this case.

A lie put out by LSU fans to try and justify missing on him. There was a lot of buzz around him for 2-3 years in North LA.

Garbage time is garbage time, and three to four plays here and there, won't change it. That's like saying Jennings played prior to Mett getting hurt. Jennings threw a couple times, and ran a couple of times. Most of it, at the ends of games.

Harris has about as much experience right now, as Prescott had all of 2012.

Doesn't matter how great of a HS QB you are. If you don't get properly developed and prepared, you won't be a great QB in college. Over the next year or so, we will see how good Cam is at these things. I'm skeptical as of now.

Same reason tyrann mathieu was a three star. Rankings don't mean that much.

Chris Jones was a 5 star recruit for Miss. St. They have more than just 2 and 3 stars.
