What's the point of a DB needing to get their head turned around?

but why does not doing it automatically draw a flag?

ive seen guys raise their hands and block the pass without contact but because theh didnt turn around, he gets flagged

You have to play the ball, not the man

Yea, we understand the rule. The point of the thread is to figure out the purpose of the rule.

Basically, it allows the refs to easily call the penalty without having to think about it too hard.

Seems kind of messed up that a QB can just under throw the ball and the WR can just stop in his tracks and the DB run into him and then get called for a penalty

DB can have perfect position hold his spot and he's in the wrong cause wr wants to go through him, what the shite is the point for DB to have great technique

It's to prevent face guarding

As in blocking their line of vision with their hands? Seems much more legal than just stopping and making DB run into you for a free 15 yards.

It makes for a better and cleaning game. Watching 2 guys compete for a live ball is better than watching a burned DB throw his hands up in desperation

Because the dumb commentators and some fans don't understand that this in fact is not a rule in college but is a rule in the NFL.

In college you can legally face guard, in the NFL it is called Pass Interference.

Some people don't know the rules. Most are commentators.

You included.

Faceguarding is not illegal in the NFL.

lol what? if they don't turn their head and don't make contact, the flag isn't thrown.

if you're making contact and accidentally hit the ball, that's a flag
