Why would someone vote for Landrieu if he/she also voted against Obama in '12?

I don't get these voters who are so anti-democratic on the national level, but are willing to pull the lever for a woman who supports Obama's agenda almost entirely. This goes for a lot of other states as well. Landrieu was the deciding vote on Obamacare. She owns it, and Louisiana is against that law by 2:1 margins. Yet she is down by only 2-5 points in most polls.

Who are these morons who are sympathetic and supportive of Landrieu, but can't stand the president? What are their justifications?

Louisiana has a reputation for voting for democrats who say the right things (Landrieu) or have a certain style (Edwards).

Our Republicans haven't been much better over the years, (Foster, Vitter, etc.), and some have been much scarier (Duke.)

Needless to say, I agree with you that it doesn't make much sense, but I guarantee you Mary will get a higher percentage of the vote than Obama did, win or lose. So, yes - I cannot reconcile voting for McCain in 2008, Romney in 2012 and Landrieu in 2008 and 2014, but it happened/will happen, dozens of thousands of times.

Not saying I agree with their argument, but they would say that Mary (due to her tenure and status as a more senior Senator) can get coin to the state.

But this year in particular more than ever it's critical we boot her. It's very plausible that after the Louisiana runoff, we're at 49 Democrat, 49 Republican, with one Independent (the guy from Kansas) and one race to be decided- Louisiana. At this point, a vote for Landrieu means a vote for a continued Obama Senate. I'd like to think at this point those Obama-hating Landrieu voters will realize the stakes and go the other route.

I don't think she makes it out of the primary.

This.

I'm pretty pissed off that Boysie Bollinger was making commercials for her. His kind can rot in hell.

Several reasons

Mary helps their businesses by getting them federal contracts

Mary is a female, many women like to vote for other women

Mary has convinced that Cassidy is some kind of rich old tycoon while she is a woman of the people.

Cassidy is not a great candidate, and many Republicans will stay home because he isn't conservative enough lowering the Republican vote; thus helping Mary indirectly.

I've channeled my relatives and have been told that Metairie cemetery is sitting this one out. They warned to keep our eyes on St. Roch and Valence Street though.
