Looking for short term rentals in the NOLA area Nola / Metaire / West Bank for about 4 months. Any suggestions on complexes or where to look that is relatively safe?

Live in BR but will be working in Belle Chase and commute every day will be brutal.

Budget is pretty open hoping to keep it around $1000 - $1500 a month if possible.

geezus you could live in a frickin mansion in metairie for $1,500

in all seriousness, with that kinda cash, you can find a really nice spot Uptown or the CBD which is what I would recommend…how old are you though?

lower 30s age just looking for something pretty safe and lower the price the better. Found some stuff off St. Charles for about $1700 a month on airbnb but hoping for cheaper.

Do prefer to be in the uptown/CBD/warehouse district area if possible.

Most of Belle Chasse and some parts of Gretna (Bellemeade North, Garden Park, Old Gretna) are cheap/safe spots on the Westbank.

What are you looking for in a rental? Things to do after work or just a place to crash?

Living in Metairie is still a hell of a commute to Belle Chasse. Probably 30 minutes from New Orleans/Uptown.

Algiers Point is one of the safest areas in New Orleans. You will also have ferry access to Canal Street. If you are still their in Feb. would be great for Mardi Gras. Just type in Algiers Point rentals in to Google

If he is working he won't be able to take advantage of this. It closes ridiculously early at 7:00 or so.

The point is a pretty cool place though. Worked off Opelousas for a while.

Thanks for the replies. On the weekends I plan to go out and do things as I won't be working sat/sun for now.

I'll look into all the places mentioned. I am ok with a 30 min commute if I can find a nice place in nola

What do you mean what is he renting? He's looking for a condo, apt, house for 4 months in the New Orleans area as he will be working in Belle Chasse. Did you anything anyone wrote in this thread?

Most corporate places in the WHD/CBD are over $2000/month. There aren't even many year long leases at $1500 these days. Still, it's possible, and if you could go up to $1700 or so, it would be worth it. Plus a majority of corporate rentals are in that area anyway. Don't piss away your brief stay here in Metairie/Kenner.

Check out craigslist too. Lakeview wouldn't be too far from what you are looking for either

Here's a neighborhood map for reference when looking

Short term rental in Lakeview for one person? Forget it.

Algiers Point is def. the best choice. "old" Gretna works as well, there are a bunch of small 2 br shotguns in that area. You'll pay a little over market to rent short term but with a $1,500 budget it won't even remotely be a problem.

Warehouse District could be cool too, especially if you find some yuppie looking to get out a lease who wants to sublet.

Old Gretna is really nice. Quiet. Safe. Have a couple restaurants and bars less than a 5 minute walk away. 10 minutes to the Belle Chasse tunnel. Algiers Point is nice. Getting there, not so much.

Def wouldn't consider Metairie due to commute. Old Algiers is not a bad idea.

You wouldn't happen to be working short term because of a plant turnaround would you?

This could be a car, a boat, a house, a trailer, a woman, an RV, furniture?

You can rent a lot of things.
