20 feet up over looking dying food plot on edge of bean field
Windy
88° F
Madison County Mississippi

Last night a little before dark I saw a buck (could tell by stature...too far and dark to see rack) crossing the bean field. He was about 30 yards out from the woodline into the field and 130 yards south of me.

I hit him with a loud aggressive grunt and he stopped, turned, and looked my direction. After about a minute of him staring my way he continued walking as he was originally. I sent him another grunt from my other call, this time a softer tone. He stopped and looked again.

I dug my rattle bag, which I never tried, out of my bag and started working the bag as hard as I could. He immediately turned around and started galloping straight towards me. shite you not, just like in the hunting shows.

At 80 yards he was now out of the beans and on the turn row heading to the corner of the field behind me and I lost sight of him (can't see all the way to the corner because if the treeline). I stood ready for him to reappear as he would've had he stayed on the road but he never did. Figure he entered the woods but by this time I could no longer see into the woods.

Didn't get a shot yesterday but between that and the doe with spotted fawns feeding in the food plot made the hunt worth it.

Like I tell Mrs. Cro, it's all about providing provisions for the family. You think I'm out here having fun
