I've seen/heard several instances on the internet and real life of people hoping Muschamp comes to LSU.

One such quote, "Please, Gators, please beat us so Les Miles gets on the hot seat. Muschamp is better than Les Miles, in coaching and for what it matters - looks."

As HC, that's crazy.

As DC, not so much.

I would love for him to come back to LSU to take over the DC position. Chief is obviously become complacent, but not be the HC.

I'd take him as the DC all day long, but if he was hired as HC

Well, we know what we got from Muschamp as DC and we know what we have in Chavis as DC.

Who had the better defenses?

In 2005 I was angry that LSU hired Miles and not Muschamp.

I am living proof that even no matter how stupid a fan you are, you can wise up.

It's hard to compare a guy who coached for 3 seasons under Nick Saban with a guy who's coached 5 seasons under Miles.

Chavis is good, but not great anymore. I think with all the new offenses spreading the ball and running the option, we are a bit outdated.

With that said, he is still one of the best DCs to ever coach. His time is running out though.

You guys act like we have never beat a spread offense under Chavis.

Last season LSU had the worst run D in the last 14 years. This year the D is on pace to be worse.

There has been a steady statistical decline over the last four years on defense. Chavis is suppose to be a linebacker guru but that has been LSU weakest core as of late.

It may be time to look for another coordinator if he can't turn things around.

We have, probably one of the better one's in Oregon a few years back.

But the D is declining. I in no means want to get rid of him.

Muschamps name was barely a household name back then before he took off for Miami. I don't recall his name even being considered back then.

Chavis' defenses are actually very good against the speed option and were being built to handle that (Oregon, aTm, West Virginia). Unfortunately, the spread has morphed into the power read (Auburn, MSU, Clemson) and LSU's defenses cannot handle power attacks.

The 2011 defense is probably the best defense to ever step on a field in college football.
