TCU
minimal impact so far, probably will be one of those 4/5 year players that will see time later in career
Chucky Hunter has had a nice career

Actually he played in almost every game as a true freshman and was on the field for about 40% of snaps vs Oklahoma last weekend

I coached him in middle school so I watched the game

He is in the regular dline rotation

LSU pulled his scholarship at the last minute and offered him a gray-shirt.

There was some skepticism that he wouldn't qualify.

This. I've been following his career as well. He has been a part of the dline rotation and will be a key player for them during his career there.

Hell, I think they have 5 Dlinemen from La.

We should have taken him instead of Mickey Johnson who hasn't done crap in 4 years in the program. Mickey couldn't even see the damn field last year and this year with all of the troubles we've had on the DL.

True. And as I recall there was tremendous angst amongst the Tiger nation that Brick wouldn't land the youngster, who is now known only as the strongest kid on the team.

They pulled his scholarship and gave it to Bain.

He's also been plagued with injuries throughout his time at LSU. I read at the beginning of this season that he was still recovering from a injury that happened in 2013

Its really no point to mention this. All of the backseat coaches with 20/20 hindsight will tell you that the real coaches made a stupid decision, as they always do in recruiting.

Now, is Lawson a better player, as of now, yes. Will Mickey ever be able to play up to the level that we hope for, maybe... maybe not. I just remember being stoked as hell that LSU was getting Anthony Johnson, Mickey, and Quentin Thomas (who was a DE but most thought that he was moving inside). I also remember feeling kind of upset that LSU was not able to take guys like Hunter and Lawson, but figured that they were getting the better players (trusting coaches).

The way it went down with Lawson was a raw deal, but I think the same situation happened with Elliot Porter. He got upset and left, but came back and has been a key cog to LSU's oline the last couple of years. Things like this happen in recruiting and it sucks, sometimes for all parties involved.

And BTW, Bain was not part of that class. He was in 2013. I can't remember who got his "spot".

Duke Riley got that spot, if I'm remembering correctly.

Riley was 2013. I think when there was talk of Lawson coming back to LSU, Riley got the spot when that proved to be false.

Both were 2013 guys. Lawsons full offer was pulled late and offered a grey shirt instead. Then right before signing day, LSU offered Riley a full ride, instead of their original grey shirt offer, and he signed shortly after the full offer. Some said the Riley offer was so LSU could get "boots on the ground" at Curtis while others said Duke was just too solid to pass up. Regardless, Riley is a solid contributor on special teams and has been decent at LB when in. Bain was the DT that replaced Lawson on the depth chart, but Riley was the last one in that class.

Oh ok. I thought he was with Hunter in 2011. I guess I need to google more often.
