Post your increases here.

Not much has changed with our company's available options from last year.

Medical premiums rose between 11%-14% depending on the plan. New Dental vendor but Dental and Vision premiums remained the same. We're still given two medical options:

1) Consumer Driven (High Deductible) w/ HSA - $1500/$3000 individual/family deductible (Company contributes $500 for individuals and $1000 for families to HSA)

2) CoPay Plan - $30 (Spousal Surcharge of $100/month added to premium)

We're also given discounts for non-tobacco use.

I'm young and have been on the Consumer Driven plan for two years. It has worked out great for us even through a pregnancy and the kid's first year. Monthly premiums increased from $72 to $80 ~ 11%.

Everyone in my family who has group coverage, (4 of us) have had a 30 to 40% increase in the last year to 14 months.

Would love to have gotten off with just an 11-14% bump.

I've been through 3 enrollments with this company and they previous ones were in the 7-9% range. How sad is it that I should be "happy" with %14?

This is probably 65% to 75% of the reason I stay in the military. I'm in the guard now. $220 a moth for a family of four.

If I had gone Co-Pay, it would be $370/month.

But the great thing so far about the HSA plan is that all of the preventative/maintenance care is covered 100% with no copay or deductible. This included all of ell jr.'s shots this last year.

370 is really low.

I agree. So what I do is put the difference into my HSA. That's about $300/month for the past 3 years with relatively very little coming out. There's so much in there, that I'm going to start using it as a back door IRA to take advantage of the tax laws. Wife and I already have Roth IRAs that we max out.

Umm... This isn't the premium. It may be your share, but it's not the whole premium. If so... Please post your broker! I want to speak with him/her

I think we are all extremely lucky that the employer mandate got pushed back. I can only imagine what will happen when it finally goes into effect.

Yes it is. I have the high deductible plan with HSA. Through work. No broker. Plan is through Aetna.

Are you sure your employer isn't paying part of that premium?

what I meant was, I want to talk to the broker your employer bought the plan from If the total premium is $960/yr for a $1500 deductible plan, s/he can expect to be getting A LOT of business!

Aetna, like most insurance plans not in AL, market there group health products through brokers for the most part.

I misunderstood what he was trying to say. I thought he understood it as I found this plan myself or through a broker I used. And the Premium I listed is my premium. I'm looking for the portion my company pays now, since he asked.

HSA's are awesome. I just found out the other day you can invest HSA funds like you would a ROTH.

Considering I NEVER go to the doctor (single, no kids also), it's essentially just another retirement account.

Exactly. Tax free growth and once you hit a certain age, tax free reimbursement.

You were correct. Company pays 80% on HD and 70% on PPO

High deductible plan, 3600 deductible for 2 adults.

My employer shares their cost with us so I know the breakdown. Overall cost went up about 17%, employer passed on all of it plus paid a few percent less than last year. So my cost is 19% up over last year.

Obviously the relevant number is the 17 percent.

I think of it in these terms. Between myself and my employer we pay about 12k before the insurance company is out a dime.

It just blows my mind.

Crazy right? If I did the math right, for my HD plan, insurance gets 7.8k between deductible and premiums. And even then it would still go to 80/20. And I'm 27. My wife and I hardly ever go to the doctor.

Ours increased by 15% but we were given options for discounts for doing health screens, being tobacco free, etc. It almost offset the increase if you jumped through the hoops and don't smoke.
