misdirection runs, misdirection play action pass, bubble screens, etc.

All of these can be run out of the pro sets we line up in most of the time, but we never see any of these plays. All of these should be safe plays for a young QB to execute while simultaneously showing a little unpredictability on offense.

It just doesn't make any damn sense for the offensive playcalling to be this damn bad.

I think it's a case of a stubborn coach trying to establish a play to set up the other plays

If the dive was working with more success you might see them set up the other plays

It's ironic and stupid but some coach have the mentality that you have to establish success out of your base package before you can move on to other things

Well, Cam can draw up any play he wants, but if the head coach doesn't like it, you won't see it. Thinking the team is talented enough to win by just lining up and running base plays is not going to work. We need to exploit the soft areas of our opponents and stop thinking we are going to win with basic shite.

After I read this from Les's presser yesterday:

quote:

He's trying to make some of the best calls he can make with vision of the field, and I think without that vision it would impair the call more.”

I could only go:

I don't think it is possible for our play-calling to be anymore impaired than it already is!

hooks, curls, drags, crossing routes...

all plays cam cameron has run at other stops as OC and HC

we just never see them at LSU. it's either running up the middle, or chunking it 25-40 yards downfield.

the short passing game is nonexistent

This is the most befuddling offensive problem to me. We have young QB's who need confidence early in games. Best way to do that is screens and slants in the short passing game.

Yet we don't run them. At all.

We run a lot of that stuff, just not frequently enough , or not well enough. Our RB screen game is trash. You get 2-3 OL out front to block, and they never hit anyone. We've had some success on bootlegs, but a whole lot of drops or qbs making bad throws/ bad decisions on who to throw to.

Draws would be nice, I think those left when Kragthorpe stopped being on staff. We had a nice fake screen/ draw play out of the I in 2011.

if you recall we tried that several times against Auburn. unfortunately Harris was sailing it over the receivers.

im hoping it was just nerves because i think he could be a great one. just needs time and experience.

that's true. harris was rattled in a hostile stadium. just chalking it up to his first start.

Did anyone watch Seattle game last night? The is a pro team running tons and tons of misdirection. Pro teams are supposed to be more traditional but those are things we need to be doing. Simple play Seattle did a ton was naked bootleg. Looks like he is going to hand it off which we do non stop but keep it and take off.

quote:

"It was awful," Harris told reporters after the game. "From the start to the finish, everything about it was awful. Our coaching staff does a great job every week preparing us for each opponent. I flat out came out and played terrible. I can't even put a grade on it. It was an awful game.

"When you're missing throws that you normally make, it's just not acceptable -- especially as the starting quarterback at this university."

quote:

Saturday night was a different story, however, and Harris reiterated that missing his mark was the main reason for his team's offensive struggles.

"Personally I was not taking it one play at a time and I take full responsibility for that," Harris said. "I told a guy in the locker room, 'Wake me up and tell me this is a nightmare,' because it was terrible."

Seattle also has Russel Wilson, Marshawn freakin' Lynch, and an o-line made up entirely of professional football players

Yep. And he fled a clean pocket several times where receivers were open short.
