Disappointing first half of the season for both. In fact, USCe has more reason for dissatisfaction. We knew LSU would be rebuilding. The Gamecocks thought this was their year to make a run. Both with long-tenured, highly successful coaches who arguably are closer to the end of their careers than the beginning. Yet, while South Carolina fans are unhappy, no one's calling for Spurrier's head as far as I can discern. Certainly they're not having a meltdown like has been going on here for the last ten days.

Are they more grounded in reality? Less psychotic?

This probably has a lot to do with it. People look at saban and bama and dont accept rebuilding years because bama hasnt had a year like this under him. LSU fans have tasted that success and want it every year. They tend to get angry when they dont get it. Plus USCe typically epic fails at least once a season so theyre used to it.

LSU fans are notoriously spoiled and short sighted.

this, and I bet a lot of their fans, have a lot more faith in spurrier, than LSU fans do in miles. right or wrong, i'm sure that has a lot to do with it. at one point in his career, he (spurrier) was considered the best coach in college football, so they believe he can/will win them a championship (SEC, or NC). when les came to baton rouge, he was basically a unknown (other than beating OU twice), and had a ton of talent to work with, from day 1. I honestly don't know what to think. he's been at LSU for 10 years now, yet we still see the same mistakes (poor clock management, penalties, turnovers, ect), but he can recruit, and this team is young, so maybe he can turn it around. I could care less who the coach is, I want LSU to be successful, and hopefully miles can be in the near future, because if not, LSU would have to have back to back loosing season, before he would be terminated. If that happened, it would have a HUGE impact on the program. It's bad enough that kids like robinson, noil, Collins, willis, ect are leaving, while LSU is winning. I can't imagine how bad it would get, if LSU were to have multiple loosing seasons.

I haven't watched any of the USCe games, but I did see a Spurrier press conference where he came right out and owned that the team played like crap and that he was completely responsible for it. Even going as far to say that the effort put forth was an embarrassment. I think that would go a long way for Miles with the fans, but instead he comes out every week and sugar coats everything and defends what were clearly bad decisions.
