All I see is that he is in a tryout for the Lions. Nothing about the Saints.

A good kicker could hurt our chances at draft position

Oh yeah. Never mind. Thought he was just on a suspension. Looks like the lions will grab him.

No. Our coaching staff prefers kickers that could potentially lose the game on missed extra points.

This is really going to piss me off if he signs for a reasonable amount

I agree. He's damn good and still pretty young. It also saves us a draft pick...we'll likely use a 5th or 6th round pick to draft a kicker in the next year or 2.

The Saints aren't signing a new kicker

I think we all understand that now, we just don't agree with it.

This is a chance to end the kicking carousel we've had over the last few years for an all-pro caliber player who is also 6 years younger.

I think we would have won the Cleveland game with a kicker of his caliber. Sean Payton obviously doesn't trust Graham by our playcalling at the CLE 36 with

With him, you can run the clock out from the CLE 36 and have confidence that 5 yards will give you a chance to make it more than a FG game.

Hell, you probably give him a chance from the 38. He's near 80% from 50+

Has just one person thought that perhaps they made contact?
Talked to his agent?
Numbers were crazy?
Prater is going where he wanted to try first?

No of course not.

I haven't heard any ramblings that we were interested, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen

I can't imagine that to be the case if things are equal $$ wise. First, NOLA >>>> Detroit. Second, Detroit plays in the NFC North. They have the following games left:

@Minny
@NE - late November
@Chi - Dec 21
@Green Bay - Dec 28

Would be a pretty dumb business decision if the money is equal IMO

Take off your black and gold glasses. If I'm a big named player I'm not coming to this dumpster fire this year. And you don't have to live in Detroit to play there.

The Saints should probably try him out, but honestly Graham saved his job last weekend. One miss and he was gone. But he split the uprights on all his tries.

Can't afford him. Graham costs $570,000. Prater commanded $2.1 million/year in Denver and will probably go for something comparable; while his price may go down some because of off-field issues, it will not go down THAT MUCH to make him cheaper than Graham or anywhere close. Prater is a proven commodity and teams WITH CAP ROOM will be willing to splurge on something like this.

Kickers are not like aging injured QB's, WR's, or DB's. They don't take less money because a team is good or "because they want to get a ring." They just kick and cash checks. Hate to be a bummer but there is simply not enough money there in the coffers for the Saints to go after Prater in any realistic fashion right now.

bullshite. Saints aren't going after Prater strictly because of Payton's stubbornness to stick with Graham at this point. End of story.
