He had 2 pressures in 25 snaps vs. Tampa Bay.

Bunkley has 3 hurries for the year in 152 snaps.

Hicks has 5 hurries and 1 hit in 253 snaps.

We need him to shine and let the other guys rest if we're going to have a pass rush this year. We've already seen that Junior and Cam are ineffective if the QB can just step up to a clean pocket

Hopefully he can get in better shape during the weeks off

Hicks has his best game of the year with Jenkins getting significant playing time. I don't think that was a coincidence.

I don't either. At worst, he holds his ground due to his size. Lets Hicks have more freedom to rush the passer

We also had some formations where Hicks was outside at DE and Junior and Cam rushed from the same side. Never a bad thing to have fresh DTs. I feel like it is very important to Bunkley who also had 2 qb hurries in 25 snaps. You know he's been wearing out on long drives

He played well, and the defense responded.

Let's hope he continues to lose weight.

100% correct. Bunkley was getting singled out the bulk of his snaps. Jenkins forces a double team if he gets his pre-snap positioning right on a pass play, he's a legit 3-4 NT and is young. Bunkley was once a legit starting NT too, but he just isn't as young as he used to be. In order for Bunkley to force a double-team he has to position his body just right in the gap, get better leverage than the offensive line, and time the snap. NT is one of those positions that just chews players up, not prime for very long.

When you have a guard and center being locked up by Jenkins, and Hicks often forces a tackle to pull to the inside to help out, leaving the outside wide open. That's where last year's opportunities happened. Here's to a well-timed bye week.
