Backstory: Safety crews were working to clear a wreck that had just happened when Jules Bianchi lost control and slid into the back of a recovery vehicle.
vine link (corrected)
Bianchi listed in critical but stable condition. Serious amount of force to lift the forklift like that.

Thats not a forklift, it's a compact front loader with forks instead of a bucket. You can see his head snap back from the impact if you look close enough. Freaking crazy that he is alive. He is incredibly lucky that he wasn't decapitated.
Why are they racing with the track that wet?

F1 races in the rain as long as they have visibility. TV broadcast didn't have any video of the accident but by the reactions from the drivers and track officials post race I thought he was dead. hope he can recover.

F1 races rain or shine.
But they will red flag if conditions are bad enough.
There is lots of talk that the promoters are at fault as they were given 2 chances by FIA to run the race earlier as the typhoon was approaching and bringing more rain.
Driver does share some blame as the yellow flags were out for quite some time.

That's the top of his car snapping off/back. Not his head.

That green flag would be for after that turn, i believe.
The race was red flagged after that.

There are lights at every corner and along the track. Not some hick in a tower waving a green flag.

estimated via telemetry at 132 mph.
Reports are the race was green, but with a local yellow at the area of the accident. The green seen in the video was the flag at the next corner past the accident. LINK to Racer.com article

It was yellow at the corner, I was watching the race. It's just unfortunate how two racers slid off on the same corner.

I always wondered how this didn't happen more often, especially on a track like Monaco.

I was watching live too. I'm in Tennessee and the wreck was at like 4am or something. I figured it was bad at the time since they wouldn't show it. So much safety in the design of the cars and track...only to go out the window when a nearly immovable object goes on the track in the run-off path.
This makes the case for the overhead cranes like in Monaco.

Definitely does, or just having a larger caution area like 3 corners. A lot of people are saying they saw a green flag at the corner of the crash, I only see one after.

why don't they do a full track caution?
