They couldn't review it anyway because the refs blew the play dead after the ball hit the ground (as an incompletion.) Also I don't think that it would have been reversed, Colston never made a football move.

I would think they have to review in slow motion to actually get the calls right.

Yea....I asked a stupid question.

If anyone can find or make a GIF of that play, I'd like to see it. But to me it looked like he cleanly caught the ball, turned, took a step or two then got stripped. It appeared to be a fumble plain as day.

It was a fumble. Could it have been overturned? Who knows, but he had control of it, tucked it, and made a step to run.

That is always the question. A "football move" is too subjective.

Having that called an incompletion was the first bit of luck to go the Saints way this year.

well actually, if Tampa doesn't shite the bed with numerous penalties, I don't see how we'd have won the game. Not taking anything away from the victory, but Tampa did all they could to help us. so I guess you could say we had some luck in that respect.

Colston appears to lack any interest in playing football

His reaction on the sidelines after fumbling against Atlanta says otherwise.

Is that play reviewable if it's blown dead as incomplete before the other team recovers it? My buddy and I were having this discussion when it happened. I also think it was a fumble but wasn't sure if it could be reviewed since they blew the whistle and said incomplete right away.

That, I'm not quite sure of.

Yeah. Just because he's not playing well doesn't mean he doesn't care

It was an incomplete pass. You have to make a "football move" or step or something after a catch. He didn't do that.

I'm not trying to insult you or anyone by saying this, but that's definitely what it looked like to me.

I'd like to see a replay or gif of the play.

He did

He catches the ball, tucks it in, turns around, and takes a step forward

Yep, I held my breath until the end of the following play because I was sure they would call it dead to review it.

Even my wife, who doesn't know shite about football was saying "snap the ball, hurry up and snap the ball"

According to stats.com he has 2 drops out of 29 targets this season.

He has caught over 57% of the balls thrown his way and 37% have been 1st downs.

LINK

Seems like there have been more.

Colston was very very very lucky that there wasn't any noise on the Tampa sideline about it. Somehow in the least quiet manner, we dodged a bullet without Tampa Bay or the refs realizing what just happened.

He is clearly having issues securing the ball this year, it's not just a case of the drops, ball security is an issue for him now.

Colston has had a problem securing the ball. That being said, we consistently ask him to go over the middle knowing he will get smashed in order to make plays. The one thing you cant question is his fearlessness about going over the middle.
