windows 8.1 system running really slow help

I haven't done thus in a while but what programs can I use to speed up my wifes pc? Is spybot still a goos one to use? Any others?

Remove any third party antivirus software. Start there. 8.1 comes with windows defender built-in.

Run Malwarebytes and remove all the viruses on your computer.
Then run Wise Registry Cleaner and your computer should be fast again.

I'll prob also upgrade memory and move her to an ssd. She just has 4gb right now.
