Mingo, Sam, Bennie, Eric, Loston, and Mills.

All were very talented (Mills still with us) But all showed leadership on the field. Every time I watched that unit play you could tell there was a strong brotherhood between them all and that they were playing for each other.

Now with this defense. Sure the talent is there, no experience at the DT position mostly but it lacks leadership. Kwon is the only guy I can point out that always looks like he's ready to go, ready to lead and ready to conquer. It's going to be a long season...

Yeah, I disagree, that 2012 D is where it all fell apart. Do you remember North Texas and Towson driving and scoring on us?

More importantly, see bama 2012 end of 1st half and end of 2nd half.

Chief and entire d staff need to go.

All that talent, and the unit was still nothing spectacular.

Fire Chavis now. Send his arse to Georgia.

In retrospect, I think the 2011 defense was a fluke. We have been progressively getting worse on D every year since 2007 with the lone exception of 2011.

2012 D would have kept us in every game this year wether they sucked or not.

I do agree that 2012 was a sign of things to come. Josh Downs just wasn't very good.

Of the many problems with this defense, the DL, especially glaring hole at DT, is the primary problems. The current starters at DT would not receive snaps on our great defenses of the past.

Same can be said about the offensive guys the past couple years. The talents always there but the coachings not. I put all of this on miles not just chavis. He needs to go

Miles didn't throw for 33% or let Auburn gash us. Miles deserves all the criticism, but not the blame.

Josh Downs was better than anybody we have now because he was used properly. He was undersized and never had to play many snaps in a row because the other DTs were very talented. Josh was solid in limited use, although not overly talented.

At this point, we don't have one decent DT. The better ones are having to play too many snaps and lose their effectiveness. It doesn't mean some will not develop, but no one is getting a chance to develop as Josh Downs did and remember while Brockers and Logan were getting red shirts Downs played as a true.

Play Valentine. No worry about vacating wins if ruled ineligible later... we won't have any wins

this is where it all started. The defense hasn't been the same since that game winning drive.

When your first 9 plays are all runs for 3 straight 3 in outs as well as 17/20 first down plays being runs it'd be hard for any qb to get into rhythm especially a freshman playing in his first away game

Miles doesn't put his players in a position to succeed and that's his problem. Miles also started welter at mlb which goes to show you just how much he knows about defense. This whole staff has to go

Do you remember McCarron being 1-7 for -2 yards in the 2nd half before the final drive? The defense fell apart with that screen pass TD and never recovered.

This makes no sense with the 09 d being better than 08, 2010 being better than 09, and 2011 being better than 2010.

The defense has been getting worse since 2012.

I remember AJ running a perfect 2 minute offense to end each half with touchdowns. Even worse, I remember AJ saying in his interview after that game he studied LSU's two minute defense and they knew exactly what to do against it.

Fire Chavis since 2012 and counting....
