Alright so what was everyone's opinion on this one. Might also want to let it be known if you read the book or not. I didn't read the book, but I was ecstatic about seeing this movie.

Personally it left me underwhelmed. I absolutely loved the first hour and ~40 minutes. When the college chick ("with the giant cum on me tits", which were incredible) beat him to the interview punch I was on the edge of my seat. I really liked it.

From that point onward I thought it got a bit ridiculous. I don't know if it was me, but I found myself laughing (really hard) at parts that were supposed to be serious (I think).

I think this was an entertaining movie overall, but it got too much hype. If I hadn't had such high expectations I probably would have felt better about it. I'm really surprised the critics are liking it as much as they are, but o well.

Am I alone? Also, did anyone else think this movie was hysterical?

I thought the first hour was the worst part of the movie by far.

Copy and pasted from another thread:

Solid movie. Still trying to process and remember everything, but here are a few initial thoughts.

The score is brilliant. Really, reeeeeally good. It sets the mood throughout the movie and keeps you on the edge of your seat. In many ways, for me, it made the movie. I haven't appreciated, noticed, or felt as moved by a score since Inception.

Rosamund Pike will be a star after this. Word will get out, and people will flock by the millions to see this movie in theaters. She and Affleck both killed it (no pun intended). Amazing acting (pun intended). But, seriously, really well done.

There is a lot of humor in this movie. It sarcastically mocks many aspects of everyday American life, and does a fine job doing so. The book did this also. Some parts, particularly toward the end, were very funny (sometimes in a sinister sort of way). Unfortunately, I think much of the humor was over the audience's head, because a lot of times I was just about the only one in the theater laughing (me and this one other guy).

I couldn't tell for sure how coherent the whole story was. Having read the book, I always knew where the movie was coming from / where it was going, so I was able to follow everything. I'll be curious to hear whether non-book readers were able to follow everything. I felt like it might've been a bit jumpy in parts.

One negative: The dialogue, in many places (especially in the first 30 minutes or so), felt like it was written by a book-writer - which, of course, it was. It felt forced, phony, unnatural in a few scenes. Like, people would never talk like that IRL.

Overall, very solid. I had built immense hype for this movie, and for the most part it lived up to it. 7/10

One other thing. Emily Ratajkowski's "giant 'cum on me' tits," as expected, were amazing. Luckily, the movie didn't require her to do much acting.

I didn't see it. If it was there in the shower scene, it must've gone by damn quick.

Saw Doogie's butt though.

I saw Doogie's blurred dick (for a split second), but not Affleck's. Emily Ratajkowski's tits. But none of Rosamund Pike, except arse and side boob. She must've drawn the line there - good for her. Classy.

Non book reader here.

I liked the first hour and a half as well, but thought that the last 20-30 minutes were gold and did not want it to end.

These were supposed to be funny. That was the thing with this and why I liked it so much. It goes from murder mystery, to "omg he was cheating, he probably did it," to oh shite, she's not even dead, to "ok how does he get out of this and prove his innocence," to "wow, she is freaking crazy, he's the one who should be scared for his life." It was just always ahead of you and never let the mood stay put for too long.

I was concerned and almost bored up until the discovery of the crime scene. Then the movie got good, then it got great, then it got amazing.

You talking about the first 15 minutes? Ha, yeah I honestly was a little concerned too when he went to The Bar and was talking with his sister, I thought the dialogue was a little corny, then it took off and didn't stop

The bar scene and the early flashbacks of the husband and wife meeting and dating.
