Are the main characters in the 50 shades of gray book white?

I'll admit, I haven't read the book. I've only seen white girls talk about it and get all crazy over it.
Is either one if the two main characters black? I'm assuming no. So off of that assumption:
Will we see a "madea goes gray" or "Tyler Perry's 50 characters each meet 1 shade of gray"
Many many many white females were VERY rustled about the character picks for the movie. I would have loved for one to be black. That would have been great to see the white women meltdown.

Well that kinda made me think of the question. If it's all white, there's got to be one coming soon for an all black version.
