How much have you paid to get this installed?

I live on a huge sprawling estate by OT standards, but my servants' quarters are on a 3/4 acre lot and I need to water that lawn. Any idea?

I've heard between 8-10K.

Anywhere from 600 to 1000 per zone.

I should go into that business. Installing and maintaining a sprinkler system is about as easy and simple as it gets. Parts are cheap too.

Have someone come out and get you an estimate. 3/4 acre would seem to be 4-5k, depending on beds.

Don't pay by the zone. It is a BS system to charge by. Many "zones" can be combined to reduce watering times.

It will be hard for any reputable company to get you an estimate over the phone. There is measuring and shape factors that come in to play.

Most contractors should give you a free estimate of you are serious.

Check for license (irrigation and general) as well as insurance/bond.

Not really if you are an honest contractor.

I would think that you get enough rain in Shreveport to get by without a sprinkler system. I live in TX and can't use mine or I'll get ticketed, and the lawn does OK.

A place in U-Club can be run on two zones and take 3 days to wire and valve up.

Likewise another place in UClub can take 10 zones and be completed in a day.

Only a moron would charge the same amount per zone

dfw metroplex

If you have new sod you can hand water it for a few days, and there are certain days you can water between 6pm-6am, but they supposedly actually monitor your usage with the city to make sure you aren't cheating.

I have to use up as much water as possible so Bossier doesn't get any.

That's a pretty good estimate. That's about what I paid for mine and I have just over an acre being irrigated.
