I was gonna say to lighten up, but based on the fact she signed up for a CC without realizing, you should probably be concerned.

What is this the 90's? The bigger issue is why does she need a store card for gap and old navy which are cheap as shite in quality and price. How much can you really buy there that you need to benefit 20% savings on credit card.

She thought it was just some kind of store card that worked more or less like debit or points/rewards if she used it with purchases.
A lot of the store cards do have points/rewards, which can be nice, provided you don't pay any interest on the card. My wife has one at Kohls, Avenue, Lane Bryant, and JCP. She is responsible with them and we pay them in full each month when she uses them. Kohls, especially, has some really good discounts with it.
She also has a Target Red Card, I think they call it, but it's a debit card, not a credit card. It's tied to our checking account and the day after she uses it, we get an EFT to our checking account from Target. You get 5 percent off, plus free shipping from target.com and I think you get longer to make returns. She uses that one a lot.

She got a discount probably and those store cards don't usually give more than $1000 initially. But do ask her about it in a non threatening demeanor.
I have several friends who have post office boxes specifically to hide their financial actions from their husbands.

Does she work? I would take it and charge it to the limit and wait for her to get the bill.

This always kills me. You can open one up and save 20% on your first $150 purchase and then forget to pay the bill on time because you get 20 lbs of junk mail that I just throw away before I walk in the door and don't recognize and then have to pay interest and a late fee on it.
