I got jumped this morning

So I was walking to the bus stop like I do almost every day at 6:30 in the morning. I didnt see any one around and the bus stop was about 30 feet in front of me when I hear a girl behind me say, "that's him". Next thing I know Im face down in a ditch. I start to get up to see who threw me in the ditch and I get kicked in the face. While this is going on that girl is screaming "STOP!!! PLEASE STOP!!!" I roll over on my back and this guy is pulling his fist back to punch me, but fortunately he was standing right over my right leg so I swung my leg up as hard as I could and kicked him the balls. He fell on the ground and screamed like a little bitch.

I could barely see from all the mud and blood in my eyes and my face was throbbing with pain but I found my biology book on the ground and hit the guy in the face with the corner of the book. Blood was everywhere by this point. He curled into a ball and was covering his head, so I assumed I had won so I decided not to hit him again. I look up to the sidewalk and I realize that the girl screaming the whole time is the girl I caught from falling on the bus and accidentally groped last Friday.

She was crying and she kept saying,"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry". The a-hole that jumped me then crawls out of the ditch, looks at me and says, "IF YOU EVER TOUCH HER AGAIN, I WILL frickING KILL YOU!!! He then grabs her arm and says "come on, get in the truck!" She is refusing to go so he slaps her in the face and drags her by arm towards his jacked up Chevy. I'm still on my knees in the ditch still in shock and not knowing what to do. As he is dragging her by her arm and hair down the sidewalk she is screaming "help!" so I shouted to him "Hey a-hole!" As he turned around and looked at me I grabbed my muddy and bloody biology book and started crawling out of the ditch. He then let her go and said "You'll regret this!" He then drove off with those giant blue balls swinging on his trailer hitch.

I helped her up and she put her arms around me and started crying. I felt really bad for her. She was shaking and really scared. I walked with her back to my apartment and she cleaned the mud and blood off of me. My face is swollen and I have cuts all over from being thrown in the ditch. We sat on my couch and talked for hours. She told me that a friend was with her on the bus last Friday when I caught her and her friend happened to bring it up around her boyfriend yesterday and he went crazy. She said he raped her last night and demanded that she tell him what I looked like and were she has seen me before. She kept begging me not to call the police for anything that happened and she must have said "I'm sorry" a million times. I told her she could stay at my place until she finds somewhere else to go since she lives with her boyfriend. She fell asleep on my shoulder and she's currently asleep on my couch and I don't know what to do.
