Ernst up by 6 in the very respected Des Moines Register poll.

LINK

My friend in Iowa says Bruce Braley (dem candidate) is running the worst campaign Iowa has ever seen.

Gardner in Colorado is definitely surging. Quinnipiac poll has him up 8. However, Colorado is hard to poll as the Mexican voters are often very hard to reach, as they don't own phones or computers for the most part. If they show up, Udall (D), will benefit greatly.

RCP now projects the republicans to win 7 seats.

Sullivan is also pulling Away in Alaska, due to Begich (D) shameful tactics.

Still think the NC race breaks GOP as well, though present polls provide little basis for that gestalt.

Braley has run a terrible campaign. I'd be very very surprised to see him win that race.

If you're right does that mean 8 seats picked up nationwide?

Isn't the number needed to shift the senate 6 pick ups by the Republicans?

Yes, but there is some questions about whether the Kansas seat will flip, meaning 7 pick-ups may be necessary.

forgive my youthful ignorance, but how does CO usually vote at congress level elections?

I wasn't really saying that with any particular seats in mind, other than the "sure things" in West Virginia, Montana and South Dakota. The other 4 (if 4 are actually needed - Kansas Republicans may come to their senses as Nov. 4th draws nearer) would come from the group consisting of Alaska, Louisiana, Arkansas, Iowa, Colorado, North Carolina, and possibly New Hampshire or Michigan. If Roberts bounces back and holds Kansas, then only 3 of those would be needed. This, of course, also assumes Kentucky and Georgia avoid the upsets that many Dems have been predicting all along. McConnell and Perdue appear to be creating a little more space in those two races each week.

In both Senate and House elections over the last 50 years, Dems and Republicans have split the seats about 50-50.

Shame about McConnell. I have a crisp want to see him finish second.

Ideally every incumbent on the ballot would go down hard on Election Night.

Why do you think the polls are wrong? I certainly hope you're right but that sounds like sunshine pumping.

While I hope the GOP takes the Senate, the fact that McConnell would be the Majority Leader removes all hope that it will be anything different from the shitshow it has been under Reid.

If this is the case, I guess a bunch of illegals will be shipped to these states pronto, and be given voting rights.

At least court nominees would not be rubber stamped during the last two years of Obama's Imperial Reign.

Agree. That's why the best case scenario is for the R's to pick up a few insurance seats, so Grimes can take Kentucky and the R's still have the Senate.

It would be a win-win. McConnell gone completely and Reid losing control over the voting calendar.

I just can't see Kansas voting for a Dem, in state Romney won by 22 points.

GA, KY, KS, AK, AR would give the R's 50.

Then you still have LA, IA, CO and NC. If any of those go R then King(I) would caucus with the R so thats another one.

So not counting MI, NH the most the R's could get to would be 55.

I'm thinking 53-47 with the indy from Maine.
