Why can't LSU be good at women's soccer?

The program has won a grand total of 2 NCAA tournament games in its 19 years.

They have missed the tournament the last 2 years with records of 9-8-4 and 9-9-2.

They were embarrassed by Texas A&M tonight 4-1. They are now 4-6-1 overall, have lost 4 straight, and are 0-2 in the SEC. They lost their last 6 matches to end last year, so in the last 17 matches, they have 4 wins and 1 tie.

Is it that hard for LSU to recruit good soccer players? The facility is good enough. It can't be that hard to field a better team.

This is Coach Brian Lee's 10th season here. After a run where LSU went to 3 NCAA's in 4 years, this will be year number 3 in a row to sit out.

According to his "vision" in his bio on lsusports.net:

quote:

LSU is the sleeping giant of college soccer. My vision for LSU is to build a program that annually contends to win the SEC, qualifies for the NCAA College Cup and competes to win a National Championship.

This is year 10, Coach. You are going the wrong direction. The giant is still asleep.

Well that is a start I guess. How does a stud Louisiana soccer player compare to a stud soccer player in another state? Are our high schools playing at the top level nationally?

Worse I think, I really have no idea I'm just repping a Falcon. She's just a junior though so the SEC will be spared for a little bit.

Gotcha. If I have time before bed, I will work on my "Why does LSU continue to accept mediocrity in their Volleyball program" thread.

Where is secman when you need him?

LSU should be good at soccer...it just shouldn't be that hard.

The Pac-10 owned softball for years until the SEC came in and started wrecking shite. No reason soccer can't do the same.
