Car scraped while parked at home

Yesterday when I got home, my neighbor who lives across the street was parked in front of my house. We park diagonally on our block, and I noticed that he was parked at a ridiculous angle not at all like anyone else diagonally parks, and I thought to myself "he better be careful when he pulls out or else he's going to hit me," but thought no more of it thinking that no human being could actually be that idiotic. (There was no other parking available, so I took the spot).
Lo and behold, this morning I walk out and I have a pretty shitty scrape down my car along the back wheel well/bumper area. His car isn't home right now, but I'm 99.9% sure it was him due to the above circumstances. If he gets home later and he also has a scrape along his car, what do I do? Confront him? Leave a note?
I don't know the guy at all, I just see him go in and out of his house from time to time.

Take pictures. Confront him nicely. If he claims it wasn't him, I don't think the police will do much for you.

Go knock on his door and ask him about it.

And show them to him while you're fricking his wife.

Waddle on over there and talk to him.

This. You can't prove it was him unless he admits guilt.
Ask around and see if any other neighbors have surveillance cameras.

ask him how would he like to handle this?

I really think having sex with his wife is the only reasonable response in this situation.

Been in this situation. Unless you actually saw him do it the cops won't help you.

Unless there's a transfer of paint on both vehicles

Yea, but the cops aren't going to take paint samples and send them of for testing.

Zac. What you do first and foremost is not be unreasonable. But later today, once you notice your neighbor home, go over to him and introduce yourself. Don't go straight to his vehicle examining it. Go to him. Explain to him what you explained to us and that you would like him to walk out there with you and inspect his car so you both could check to see if possibly an accident had taken place. You two guys walk out there togwther like civil humans and check the vehicles. Maybe have your vehicle there and show him the scratch you are talking about before going to check his. Then you guys handle it however you decide. Try to not be unreasonable with fixing it.
And from here on out, try and be a little more neighborly and be able to communicate with them if needed be.
You're welcome

It's like you've never seen an episode of CSI. They will come for semen or paint samples.

"Leads, yeah sure. I'll uh, just check with the boys down at the Crime Lab. They uh, got uh, four more detectives working on the case. They've got us working in shifts!"

Agree but if your vehicle is white and his is black and your vehicle has black paint on the scrap and he has white paint on his bumper and his bumper "appears" to have caused it, you have a case.
He could have done it and not know about it.
Edit: Not meant to be racist thread

If the damage on his car matches. Lie and tell him your security camera shows him hitting your car and ask how he wants to handle it. Hope he doesn't ask to see the video

You are probably right. Unfortunately, you may be screwed.
Ask him politely if he knows anything about this. He will probably say no and at that point, unless you have a witness, its probably over.

He's going to ask to see the video.
They always ask to see the video.
