Male characters still look like mod pussies.

Recent Final Fantasy XV Reveals May Be Cause For Concern

Well that just sounds bad.

The trailer didn't blow me away. I thought it looked good but the gameplay didn't excite me. I'm not down on it but I'm concerned.

“It’ll basically be a one-button action, and the AI intuitively outputs an action that kind of satisfies, gives you that instant gratification, and it connects with the simple touch of a button. I myself am not getting any younger. I don’t want to be frantically pushing buttons. I also want to utilise the intelligence of the hardware spec, and not have to go through too much hassle or trouble in order to execute moves.”
This sounds bad.

The simplicity of the game is made more evident by the fact that the game itself picks out the best weapon for you to use in any given situation rather than you choosing pre-battle.
Jesus. That is just stupid.

Perhaps it is possible to go and change somehow in the menus after the fact, but this basically takes all the strategy of weapons out of the game completely.
Strategy is for smart people. Your average gamer has the intelligence of a tire.

Tabata also revealed that there would be only one truly playable character with Noctis, while the rest would be able to be given commands in battle. In addition, of the characters able to be in your party, not a single one is female. In a series that is founded on strong female party members over the years, including Tifa, Yuna, and plenty of others, it is incredibly disappointing to learn there are zero in this game that can be in your party. The reveal of Luna does make this a little better, but it would be nice if she was a part of your actual team in the game.
Gay.

Yay for misunderstandings. He just doesn't want people to have to memorize long combos like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, or Bayonetta.

If you want to be technical, every FF except for LR was a one button game as is KH.

Not at all. There are many ways to incorporate strategy into the battle without having complex action elements.

Yeah I don't like the sound of that.

As much as I love FFXII, it seems like that's the one that started the trend of letting the AI control a good bit of your party. At least with that one you could customize weapons and armor and strategy with the gambit system and it took some thought. I understand with the fast paced direction they are going in AI would help, but pressing one button and having everything else thought out for me sounds no fun. It wasn't in FFXIII when I would just sit and press L1, X and down the entire damn time.

I liked the gambit system even if it wasn't classic turn based.

And one way is to have the player optimize their loadout for certain enemies in order to exploit weaknesses. If that is no longer the case and the game "chooses" the best weapon, strategy goes out the window.

I understand we are just speculating here, but when a developer states that they want to make the game for more casual fans, well, we've seen what happens. It is rarely good.

Here's the interview he's quoting: LINK

This is Tabata's first time in the spotlight, so I wouldn't be surprised if he misspoke in a English interview (as in, gave the wrong meaning or impression due to the difficulties of second language) during a very busy convention. Also, casual isn't seen as a dirty word in Japan.

Well, the good news is that we'll have a demo available in less than 6 months to try it out for ourselves.

We love to blow up over japanese interviews all the time but translation causes a lot of it. Sometimes a word gets used that means different things.

I'm hard. I haven't played a Final Fantasy game all the way through since VIII but this one will definitely be getting the shite played out of it. More than likely getting it for my PS4.

I'm sure I will buy this the day it comes out but I really wish SE would make another final fantasy game in mold of FFIX. Everyone clamors for an updated FFVII but FFIX is really the pinnacle of FF games.

I heard the "one button" thing was like an optional easy mode. Is that the way to "ease in" newer player?

There's multiple difficulty modes(a la kingdom hearts)

Most of the gameplay shown looks early in the game(when skills are limited).

People freak out too much.

Looks amazing no doubt

They made Bravely Default which is essentially old school Final Fantasy.
