id like to get some opinions from stout and SG in regards to experiencing older games and the constant evolution to the sudden diminishing returns. im only 21 so i didnt get that huge jump from link to the past to ocarina and shite. i grew up with ocarina

i turned 27 yesterday. he nailed it.

ETA:First system I had was regular nintendo with the mario/duck hunt. with every system that came out after that there was absolutely a noticeable jump in quality and game play with each system. you really don't have that anymore i think.

29, I saw the huge jumps. I do agree that graphics are reaching those diminished returns, the pixel debates are proof of that IMO. I don't think it's fair to say there are no new experiences though. The new generation is just starting. There will be huge games this generation, we just don't know what they are yet.

i really think we wont see many new games for consoles because developers don't need to spend the money to take the risks because they can just spit out the same cod, bf, halo etc and people will buy them up.

I don't really agree. Those sell because of name but I think the market will eventually decide what it wants. Cod isn't dead but not just any developer can make a shooter like that and sell..

i have to say, i think this year has been the worst for games in my lifetime. just such long stretches between great games. Metro Redux and LoU Remastered are the last 2 games I've bought in the last few months. Hardly touched my Wii U and Xbox One lately, but that's mostly because I'm working 50 hours a week and taking 15 hours this semester. I play when I can, but no free time sucks now.

Evil Within, Master Chief Collection, and GTAV Remastered should help out though, even though 2 of those are not new.

February, I'm going to have to drop out of school and quit working so that I can devote my life to Bloodborne and Witcher 3. Hopefully I can have 15k in my checking account by then

i'm hopeful, but i just don't know what to think about video games anymore. the last one i got really excited about was d3 (vanilla) and goddammit that was so shitty.

He is right. I'm 26. First console I owned was a Sega Genesis and I think my love for RPGs is motivated by my want to see something new, and the best place for me to find it now is in the story.

d3 came out at a tough time in my life and i became obsessed with it My schedule for that summer was literally wake up, work out, play D3, go to work for a few hours, work out, play D3 all night. rinse and repeat. I quit drinking for 3 months and didn't go out, so D3 was my little escape

i got fricking jacked and none of the hoes got to see because i was in sanctuary lol

2014 has been slow but there are some games people like to forget. Child of light was great and South Park was one of the funniest games ever, which may start a new trend. Other than that everything was a port of last gen or got delayed which is what happens every new generation, we just conveniently forget.

We aren't that far removed from a fantastic 2013 year and 2015 looks pretty big too.
