The difference btw '13 & '14: ONE pass attempt and TWO completions per game.

We had 25 passes per game in 2013 & 24 per game so far in 2014. 15 completions per game in '13 and 13 completions per game this season. The line between good and great & love and hate is very thin.

Consider the missed throws and dropped passes from last Saturday. If we make a couple more throws (maybe at the goal line), and complete a couple more passes, that could have been a much different game. Better yet, if this team could learn to block a screen pass, things could have been different...

No. the difference is in 2014 we have played 2 rent a wins.

in 2013 we played a whole season. All the teams, not just the rent a wins.

Well right now we've played 2 good teams and 2 bad teams so yeah it's a little heavier slanted toward the rent a wins

I think the OP might be looking at irrelevant stats though

Keep dreaming.

We were thoroughly dominated on both sides of the ball. It was not a close game where "a couple more throws" would've made a difference.

only way to do it right would be to build a model off last year, then score each game this year.

No kidding we were absolutely dominated, including on the goal line stand. But, you are a delusional tard if you think us scoring vs not scoring on that goal line stand couldn't have possibly had an impact on the overall outcome of the game.

But you're missing the point. You're engaging in a ridiculous hypothetical. If we had scored 56 points on 1/9 we would have won the BCS Natty!

Damn, why are people so stupid. The guy in the OP simply said had a couple of passes hit, it would have been a different game. The game could have been a lot different. It wouldn't have changed how badly we got dominated on both sides of the line of scrimmage, but it could have changed the score board. We never even had a chance to score on 1/9.

Your boy made the comment that the game was not even close enough to where a pass or two could have made a difference. That is stupid. The game could have most definitely been different with a pass or two.

Classic example of stats not telling the whole story. Go look at the 2013 offense the first four games, compare it to this season and get back to us.

Good point...we had a hail mary intercepted that would have won the game, so we only needed ONE MORE THROW to win. I know we looked bad most of the game, but I swear some of you idiots must have turned the game off early or left early and didn't even check the final score.

Stop looking at just stats and watch the damn games. This offense isn't close to last years

wait, so you're actually telling me that since we only lost by 5 points, then by definition it was a "close game." Good god, did you not watch the game??? We were completely dominated from the opening play.

True, we scored some late TDs when we were in desperation mode (and when MSU took their foot off the gas offensively and went to a prevent defense, and gave us a gift with the bad shotgun snap). But if you think that game was closely contested, and that we had any business winning it, then you're just absolutely delusional.

So they were just letting us try to win the game there? great gobbledy goop

But if you think that game was closely contested,

ummm somewhat and then again No. There were points in the game which allowed for us to stay close but we let those go to the wayside.

we had any business winning it

Sure we did and that is why we play the game for 60 minutes.

then you're just absolutely delusional.

Thank you

I think we underestimate the value of a meaningful completed pass.

The point of the post is that our offensive scheme hasn't changed against a year when we had a very good QB. This offense isn't being "held back" relatively speaking.

I agree with those who say our defense was THE letdown of that game.

Moo State wanted it more…..plain and simple.

Goal line stand against us….and then they scored.

AND

After opening the 2nd half with a strip-and-score…crowd going wild….they answer with a score and a score. They wanted it more.

So being run-heavy, getting blown out, going into 4-wide out of desperation and heaving it all over the field in the back half of the 4th quarter is the same as a balanced offense?

I guess there are lies, damned lies and final statistics.

Jennings currently has the lowest completion % of any LSU QB in the last 10 years (51.3%).

Who had a lower % than him in 2004? Jamarcus Russell. He turned out to be a pretty good college QB.

I agree aome of those completions, more first downs, scoring on 4th and goal, would have set the State defense back on their heels and we could've possibly made a game of it.

The problem was we kept trying to pound the ground game even when that wasn't working too. Miles hates him some incompletions and interceptions big time. They cause his anus to pucker and he folds like a cheap suit.
